I thought what we were talking about was having this guy labled a sexual predator & having his life turned upside-down just because he grabbed this teenager by the arm to yell at her about being careful in traffic.

That doesn't make sense. The jury comes back with a not guilty and it is over. Did the judge overrule the jury? I still think something is missing.

It is not an 'article' wanderer. It is an opinion piece and is light on facts. There is other information about the case available if you'll look.

This was an Appellate level decision. My hunch is that they heard more facts that we have.

He was acquitted of attempted kidnapping and child abduction charges but convicted of unlawful restraint. You can assume what his intentions were all you want.

It seems to me that the law was sensibly applied in this case, as no one except the defendant knows what his true intent was. He was convicted of the crime of grabbing and holding a minor. As a father of three young girls, I'm glad there are such laws.

We have a friend who works at the prison in Avenel NJ for repetitive, compulsive sex offenders. I've heard some stories that would have an emotional impact on just about anyone. Because of the nature of their compulsion, those people are not usually that honest about their motives.

Anyone is free to believe that this guy only grabbed the young girl with the best of intentions. I'll go with the judgement of the court over your knee-jerk reactions any day.”
