about 9 years, with a hiatus
Like MarkO, I can date from a gear posting, but I was a few months earlier than MarkO.

I traitorously abandoned TT for another outdoor site for 2-3 years, but met (online only) HikerBoy and AmyG on the other site.

They made changes which killed the site, it was so slow loading that most of the posters dropped off. I then came back here.

Only been on 2 oficial TT trips, first also had the infamous Goretex (LOL Maple), 2nd would have met MarkO but he bailed.

Yes, a planned Presidential traverse. Gremlin wrecked his car just before and also had to cancel. Ended up just 4 of us, but we did not get far as conditions were pretty bad, high wind low visibility which made the tops more risk than it was worth.

There was a secret TT trip in the same area at the same time, where a group went to a hut and day hiked from the hut base.

Pekka's Forgiveness!! Please!!
Pekka... please don't take offense... I was trying to be witty, somehow thinking I could make the connection to nitpik - which doesn't in the least way refer to you, and it obviously didn't come accross that way.

My apologies...

I've been slack, lately... but I figure 5 or 6 years. I think Chili was already ensconced. The first thing I did was read the JELLOW thread end-to-end... I knew I was in the right place!

Anybody seen Stratdewd lately?? [G]

Dang nice thread obi wan!!
Nice to see you again btw. Lots of names here I've not seen in a great while, great to see y'all! Snakelegs I was about to say I've never seen you as well, but Naviguesser, that's a great one, I remember you fo sho. And Spam, I got an earfull from WD about that dawg on his tarp, LOL, he weren't too thrilled with that one.

Pedxing, you still coming to Italy this summer? We've a bit of an extension on our stay, so let's begin anew any help I can be of your trip.

My profile page says 4-5-99, but I was on here a year before that with the handle "Jason". But then another guy started using jason too, that was back when you typed in your username with your message, and you could put in whatever you wanted to. So then I changed my name to naked ape, because I'm very big, and very, very hairy! I lurked several months before that, so that puts me at like late '97 or early '98.

I was here when Bear was jmac, and I so much wanted to go one one of mel's trips in the Sierras, but we were poor folk back then. I found this site under a search, which happened to be the first one. And after reading a little of the threads, I never bothered even looking at the "others".

Bear and cowpatty, whur y'all at? Warm hiya to you both.

Bongo, you ever coming Italy ways? Looks like we're here thru early Oct.

Nice seeing summa you oldtimers! And MarkO, gawddangit, you are Tom Terrific!? It all makes sense! You guys quit changing yer names, I cain't be on here enough to keep up with such shinanigans.

BTW, me being big and hairy, cancel that, I'm not exactly much of either one of those.

That lime-green stuff of SierraMel's was something, but I cain't even imagine reading that end-to-end, now that's a feat!

LOL, and Strat, now that fellow could stir up the pot.

Nav I cain't believe you up and changed yer name like that, tis too original!

Apology accepted, Obi. I've been on a couple blues music discussion boards for the past year or so, and while there are a wide variety of personalities on both, both groups have a very strong commitment to avoiding derisive remarks, let alone flame wars. Both places, Big Road Blues and Blindman's Blues Forum, are great examples of on-line communities. Perhaps I lost a bit of my "internet callous" that I'd built up on TT.

why do I always get blamed for bringing the riff raff to TT?! :p

deja vous on this thread...what a nice catch up. :)

bpbaby was a total gearpimp! I still have a TNF fleece and my Tubbs snowshoes I bought from her. I think she dropped out of TT when she got started on ebay. I hear she bought herself an island in the acrribean with the fortune she made off her surplus gear.

Manuka it wasn't a secret at all. It was listed as a open public trip. We had a blast. We climbed all the Wildcats and most of the Carter range. Too bad about yours though

SirPete, apology,
I probably did not see as stopped looking at trips when signed on for the one Gremlin was planning. Pity as being in the area we could easily have made it over to that side when the weather became untenable for the traverse.

I know how you fel...

Perhaps it's part of the Nurture vs. Nature debate, in that I've grown to find the derisiveness and such, irrelevance and inconsistency, so forth, just a little unsettling... guess I get pretty impatient with it, too, and though I care not for that kind of dialogue, it would seem now and then, I, too, slip and fall into the pit!

'nuff said!

Could there be MORE lurking out there, or long-lost souls who might still not post, but for the purpose of letting me know you're still alive and well?

Oldtimer...
My "Two Sisters" comment was meant to imply that I did the report before the formation of the third Sister. That would have been millions and millions of years ago. Most of us here know the technology of those days would not allow TT to exist. Irony. Hillarity! You can all laugh now.

I started posting fall '99. Met Belle May '00. Met AmyG summer '00. First TT hikes Red River Gorge (large group) and Cumberland Island (small group) in fall '00 - not sure which was first... but I think it was Cumby.

I hold the honorable distinction of being the oldest timer to have never read the Lime Green Jello thread. Nary a word...

(Imagine all the filthy thawts!!)

Wanderer that was a fantastic trip too! I shore wish I'd had more times to hike with y'all westerners. Good group of folks. Wanderer I shall return no doubt, but I do have my own snowshoes now, some nifty Atlas 1025's. They've touched no snow or ice yet tho, my wife is like "What do you have these for!?" hehehe ........ for a little while... I'm not in Cali anymore, been in Italy for the last 3 years, and in Oct we're moving to Phx, AZ. So I've not much been on western threads.
I could update my Profile Page if there were a selection for ITALY, but they ain't. So it still says Cali. I'll get back that way again someday!

Roach, dang, why change yer name? That'n was good!
