If you bothered reading my post, you'd see that I was trying to go along with your request by adopting a "let's-not-dwell-on-the-past" approach. Just because I said you bring some of this on yourself, you continue to throw me in the corner with the other children and chide us for being so mean to you.

Your right, I tend to shy away from the political threads. I'll admit it, I cannot argue. I usually don't have enough facts to support a view. I have never been good at arguing.

I am rude to people for whom I have developed a dislike because of their internet personality.

I am perhaps more careful to avoid confrontation with those who I may, one day, end up hiking with . ..but . .let me say this: If Sarge lived the next town over, I can guarantee that I wouldn't seek him out to hike with, just based on his internet personality.

Sarge once accused me of using him to vent, as a whipping boy: and to an extent he was right. I am civil in all of my real life interactions . . .I simply don't feel likewise constrained here.

There are times when it is a great release to simply call someone a poop head who . . ..in my heart of hearts . ..I believe IS a poophead.

I work with a guy who wears a WWJD (what would jesus do)bracelet and has a bible open on his desk all day.

For the record, I like him.

Sometimes(?) I feel like ass and I come on here and my posts are reflected by it. And then sometimes there are asses on here.

I believe at least one person thought I was a complete ass until I hiked with them. I don't "try" to be different on here then I would in real life. You cannot possibly be your true self through the internet because only words are transmitted. Am I the only one to get reamed at work b/c an email was completely misunderstood by a superior who knew nothing about me? OK, I have been reamed several times. :D”

“Sarge, today of all days, I too posted a bible verse earlier. You might not have seen it because Matt struck it down pretty quickly. No idea why, but I digress. The basic message was, start walking the walk.

You and I had a very long 2-day debate on whether or not you actually lived as a Christian, or not. I have made it a point to "ignore" you since that debate (the only one I've ever done that with) because I find your conduct here at odds with your steadfast claim that you do follow the Christian way: "do unto others" to sum it up in one sentence. You may think I stopped talking to you because you began the process of stalking me (tracking down my personal email address, personal details, etc.) but that isn't the reason. Its because I expect you to walk the walk, because you say you will, but you don't.

I'm ready to give you another chance. Let the personal jabs roll off your back - you started the thunderstorms, so deal with the rain. Instead of "let's roll", how about "let it roll off your back". I'll do the Christian thing and forgive and move on, if you are sincere about moving on. Maybe you are a "good" Christian offline. To be true to God you need to do the same here.

I hope you do not take offense at rebuke here. Since you named me in your post, I will respond pesonally. Once you make it about personalities, and even more when you name names and reference grudges, you undermine your call for civility. When you offer explanations for past actions in the context of misdeeds and misbehaviors by others, you eliminate almost any impact that the admission might have.

This is why I endorsed your call for civility and suggested - both to you and those responding to you - that making it about personalities and causes would not be helpful if civility was the goal.

If I apologized for getting bent out of shape on occasion in response when you were relentlessly nastiness, would that feel like an apology to you? Would that clear the slate? I don't thinks so. You don't bury the hatchet and start afresh while insisting that others see the disputes as you do.

You probably see this post as patronizing or passive aggressive. I don't - I see it as a clear, reasoned, expression of my point of view. If you want mutual civility, you'll have to respect that people differ.”
