Yep, daughter and I have been taking fencing lessons for the last couple of weeks. Its been fun, especially for her since I am such a great father I let her get points on me. She so low I can't get down to block her :)

I've always wanted to try fencing but have never had the opportunity however I have had my share of bayonette training! LOL
Sounds like a fun thing for a Dad to do!

Sorry, it was just a bad play on words on my part. I've never fenced but anything you do that can cause a poke in the eye must be pretty exciting.

Poke?! Eyeball LICKING is suppose to be exciting, not eyeball poking. Be careful, Buck, one day you might get slapped.

hyway, how much are you paying for the fencing lessons? I always wanted my kids to get into this.

I signed up for a fencing class at a local community college when I was in my early teens. It was fun, but damn..., it was not easy. You have to develop the muscles it takes to stay in those defensive positions and keep thrusting with that damn foil.

Oh, and yes, it does hurt like hell when someone who knows what they are doing jabs the heck out of you with the foil. Maybe the protective stuff they gave us was second rate?? All that aside, I had a blast in the class.

My daughter and I are taking classes 2 nights a week for 6 weeks with the local fencing club, capefearfencing.com , it cost us $35 ea. They provide all the equipment.

Those guys who know what they are doing make it look so easy. I look like i am swatting at a swarm of african bees and they just flick and stab me in the heart.
