Looking for suggestions
Fellow backpackers,
Looking for suggestions as to what the best spot of the AT is to visit in mid to late august for about a week. Scenery and return access are two biggest concerns. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions!!!!

Anywhere from GA to ME? Or do you want to narrow it down a little?

It's bloody hot in Virginia in August. I don't backpack around here that time of year. And unless we start getting some rain, water could be a problem. I guess I would go up north for the coolest weather.

I would do something up north or something in higher elevations so it's not hot, like the smokies, roans, mt rogers NRA or the Whites.

New England
Not too hot in August, but comfortable. All easily accessible thru Boston if you need to fly, or Albany/Montreal/Burlington if you want to do Vermont.

Good stuff for late summer...
