The best song is 'Bitten by the monster of love', by Sparks 82-86.

have to disagree about the star spangled banner. the question is worst song, not worst performance. when done right, the star spangled banner is beautiful”

Crash Bang,

I guess you read what I wrote but had difficulty comprehending
"worst to sing - easy "Star Spangled Banner" I have actually heard about 3 people who could sing that without the audience wincing."

You said it yourself "when done right", but who can "do it right"?.
This is supposed to be a NATIONAL anthem, not some song that less than 1% of the population can sing with any semblance of being on key.

As an anthem Irving Berlin's "God Bless America", The Rev. Samuel F. Smith's "America" are both far better choices that are able to be sung by most people. Even Woodie Guthries "This land is your land" would be better IMHO.

Guess I posted on the "old" thread. Funk Sould Brother.

But I do like Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith, and the Star Spangled Banner.

"national anthem" doesnt mean everybody in the nation has to be able to do it.

jeeze, if marko and treebeard said they hated the national anthem, s-rge and stovestomper would be asking them why they hated america so.

MY CHOICE MADE IT!! GREAT COMMENTS IN THIS PARAGRAPH, TOO!!

3. "You Light Up My Life," Debby Boone (No. 1 for 10 weeks, 1977): "How can anything so insipidly slow light up anything?" (Bob B.); "[It] sounded like it was thrown together on a rainy afternoon by a lovestruck adolescent" (Jan R.); "The musical equivalent of being keel-hauled" (Michael R.).
