“I took a photo of this emerging flower April 19 in a hardwood forest in southern Minnesota. It looks to just be emerging, whatever it is? Sooooooo... what is it??? Thanks!! http://www.thebackpacker.com/pictures/pic/yooecat7o09.php” 5:47:20 PM 4/23/06 “It looks like a Fiddlehead a type of eatable fern. I'm not 100% so if you see another, don't try eating it.” 6:00:14 PM 4/23/06 “Five of us were hiking today and identified the following wildflower (or so with thought, book in hand, lol!) Bloodroot, Dutchman's Breeches, white dogtooth violet (also known as a trout lily), rue anemone, bluebells, spring beauties, violets, marsh marigolds and probably hepatica.” 6:05:57 PM 4/23/06 “Hey, lumberzac, you might just be right. I could envision my photo becoming this photo: click on the fiddlehead fern photo at http://digitalscenic.com/gallery5.htm” 6:16:11 PM 4/23/06 “It is a fern. They all pretty much have fiddleheads in the spring. I bet it's an ostrich fern speciffically. Maybe a Christmas fern.” 5:41:17 AM 4/24/06 “It's a Southern Minnesota Hardwood Forest Flower...They're found mainly in hardwood forests in and around southern Minnesota” 6:28:18 AM 4/24/06 “LOL@ thrifty....you beat me to it...I was gonna say "Something Green"” 7:14:20 AM 4/24/06 “D-O-R-K-S !!!!!!!!!!! lol” 10:00:35 AM 4/24/06 “Around here, only ostrich ferns are called fiddleheads as they are the edible ones...the one you took a picture of is NOT an ostrich fern.” 10:16:19 AM 4/24/06
