LOL! Not sure. But since I can be extremely dense when it comes to all things computery, I decided maybe he was on the level.

Or, like you said, it's really weird.

Come on guys.
Give the newbie a break.

Most other forums have a reply to this thread button. TT does not.

donnorton, to reply to a thread like this one you have open, just scroll down to the Post a Message box and enter your text, then click Submit Message.

XL already gave instructions.

I agree with giving people the benefit of the doubt, too. I do respect you both (XL and Stove) for offering some hospitality.

good point SS.

the submit message button is pretty confusing.

we all take it for granted, but if someone didn't tell you, who'd guess what such a mysterious button could do?

Submit is not something that comes easily to TTers.

sacco, this one's even better

im still hung up on this whole wannabe thing. dude, check this board out on the weekend. it's dead. that's because everyone's backpacking. they sit around their computers all day because they're at WORK. generally, at their work i would assume their desk has a computer on it.

lol @ Geo
I just realized the source of the confusion. People are used to boards where the posts people make on a thread are replies to something someone said before. On TT, we don't "reply" we just "submit messages." "Reply" implies what you are saying has something to do with what someone else said before you.

Have to agree with Crash, this is the best site I have visited.

When you talk about simple mistakes I refernece the night that we got a call to a 'woman trapped in a car". She was noticably intoxicated (ETOH) and had gotten in the car to go to the store. She had lost her keys (convertible) and had called 911.
The Sheriffs deputies were proudly telling how they had pulled the roof up to get her out. Since the car was not on they said they could not get the door unlocked.
I calmly walked over to the car with the deputy and lit the inside of the door with my light. I flashed it on the door handle on the other side and asked,"DO you see the little (WARNING TECHNICAL JARGON TO FOLLOW) "slidy thingy" under the handle....?" The deputy pulled up the roof, I slid the (WARNING TECHNICAL JARGON TO FOLLOW) slidy thingy over, opened the door retrieved the keys and walked back out to check on the patient.

a big welcome from the midwest(also a newbie). If you are like me you spend more time hiking than you do sitting in front of the computer. Great forum, nice people--for the most part.

Last night I had a cowburger. The first cowburger I've had in over a decade. It came from one of Dani's Organic Farmer friends. He has about a dozen cows on 40+ acres. Free range grass fed, humanly treated, from birth to death.

Tasted like no burger I've ever had. The difference in texture alone was interesting but the taste was phenomenal. Wanted another one when I woke up this morning.

TT is the happening place for goofball hikers and multisporters. Don't trust anybody until you have hiked with them.
