"...I believe that Katrina is -- has worn its welcome. I mean, and I think we have heard about it. We have heard about it... I think the American people are getting a little tired of it, myself."

If you read the whole paragraph, (instead of just what Violin copied) you'd see he wasn't referring to "Katrina" itself as what has worn it's welcome, but the use of the Katrina talking point by the left to bash President Bush. Context is everything.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. JOSEPH LIEBERMAN (D), CONNECTICUT: President Bush won our admiration and our gratitude for the way he took charge, responding to the attacks against America of September 11.

In the case of Hurricane Katrina, he failed to provide that same presidential leadership, when it was needed, and America suffered.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BLITZER: It seems this administration, as I said earlier, can't cut a break. On any day they try to do something, they are going to be undermined by other developments, including today. BUCHANAN: Well, there's no question. I believe that Katrina is -- has worn its welcome. I mean, and I think we have heard about it. We have heard about it. The American people have responded. The president suffered. It weakened his poll numbers. And -- but to suggest that somehow this is going to continue to play against him, I think the American people are getting a little tired of it, myself.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- Thomas Rankin, the Libertarian running for Wyoming's lone U.S. House seat, said Rep. Barbara Cubin, R-Wyo., threatened to slap him after a televised debate.

During a debate Sunday that also included Democrat Gary Trauner, Cubin and Rankin had a testy exchange over campaign contributions Cubin received from former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

Rankin, who has multiple sclerosis and uses an electric wheelchair, said Monday night in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that the confrontation occurred immediately after the debate.

"My aide and I were packing up to leave the debate, and Barbara walked over to me and said, 'If you weren't sitting in that chair, I'd slap you across the face.' That's quote-unquote," Rankin said.
[...]
During her tenure, Cubin received $22,520 in campaign contributions from Delay's Americans for a Republican Majority PAC. She has said she would not return the money unless DeLay was convicted of a crime.

as it turns out????? provide the link. go ahead.

heres what an expert has to say:

"the chorea that Michael J Fox has in that ad comes from chronic use of dopamine agonists in the context of Parkinson's. They're movements from the medicine, not the disease itself. Although he might have odd movements OFF of his meds, they wouldn't look like the ones in the ad. They'd look like the Parkinson's-like presentation of Muhammed Ali's Dementia Pugilistica.

In addition, those movements are hard to imitate accurately because they stem from circuits between the basal ganglia and cortex that you can't just turn off or on. Those aren't volitional circuits. There is little chance he was acting, and if he was, he could only accentuate slightly movementse already had. In other words, this is as tragic as it looks."

nice selective quote. try being honest and posting the whole thing.....the TALK SHOW HOST qouted is LIMBAUGH the impartial one (lol)

On Tuesday, the talk show host said Fox admitted in his book to not taking his meds when he appeared before Congress.

"He did not take his medication for the purposes of having the ravages and the horrors of Parkinson's disease illustrated," Limbaugh said.

Fox addressed the controversy on Tuesday.

"I'm kind of lucky right now. It's ironic, given some of the things that have been said in the last couple of days, that my pills are working really well right now," he said.

University of Chicago neurologist Dr. Thomas Kelly says Limbaugh doesn't have his facts straight. Fox's disease has progressed where he no longer only gets tremors, which can be controlled with medication, but has more erratic movements which are caused directly by his medicine.

"Chaotic, maybe writhing, dance-like movements, or dyskinesia, the movements I've seen in Mr. Fox, are due to his medications," said Dr. Kelly.

Duckworth called Limbaugh's opinion ridiculous.

"That comment is trying to take attention away from the real issue at hand, which is we need embryonic stem cell research," she said.

I am sorry he has the disease, but it is like the Terrorist in Lebanon making up the injurys and deaths.. and faking the news...but then again...Libbies have been faing the news for years.

Once again..WHY SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT HAVE TO FUND THE RESEARCH?

Here is a neat idea. If Uncle Sugar funds the research and the companies find the CURE...and go to get rich off it...the Government Audits them then take their percentage off the Gross. So if they gave 75% of the money to develop the drug...the get 75% of any money made.

"Now people are telling me they have seen Michael J. So I will bigly, hugely admit that I was wrong, and I will apologize to Michael J. Fox, if I am wrong in characterizing his behavior on this commercial as an act."

is that also part of the compassionate platform?

you cant even bring yourself to come up with any arguements against any of the points themselves so you, like your friend xl400, decides to repeatedly attack the person. which of course, does little to make anyone's arguments weaker. it just makes it look like you're getting really really upset at not having anything pertinent to say to defend yourself and your actions.

OK, I guess I was wrong. Haven't heard anyone say that he was NOT off the meds. Mr. Fox himself said in an interview that we was off them when he testified before congress and that he did it to demonstrate the effect that the disease had on people. I have seen him in several interview situations in which the shaking was not present, leading me to think that perhaps the ads were also being done with out the meds.

I still see the shaking and meds/nomeds issue to be a distraction. The fact is that, at least in the Missouri ads, what he said was completely misleading and inaccurate. Stem cell research is perfectly legal in Missouri and there is NO ballot issue or anything else that would change it. The issue before the voters is refered to as a stem cell research bill, but it changes nothing concerning stem cell research. It in fact legalizes human cloning research. The Republican he is condeming opposes human cloning, not stem cell research therefore he has come out against the bill. The Democrat Mr. Fox is backing is in favor of the bill. So far as I know she hasn't indicated whether she is in favor of cloning or not.

No kidding. Who cares what he did or what he said? I think it’s great that he can help others but I get a bit under whelmed when celebrities contract a condition and then all of a sudden it’s the biggest, most important cause in the whole world and they expect Congress to make time for them, and you’re an ass hole if ya don’t have an overpriced red t-shirt or a yellow rubber bracelet.
