Oh yeah I love that hammered paint! That's what I put on the handrail I had made for our previous house.

Wow, that does look good! I liked the cabinets before, but the paint job really looks great!

G is busy reading his Home Improvement book right now, figuring out how to do something. We'll be on our way to Lowe's or HD today to get luan and plywood for the floor.

I'll go take more pics, and post them ASAP.

I almost forgot, we found there are NO shutoff valves under the kitchen sink! Yeah, good times! G's going to put shut offs in, and then the sink will come out. That's kinda holding up the whole project at the moment.

Much progress again today. After dropping $350 at Lowe's yesterday, G is fired up to keep working!

Rest of the cabinets, and the sink came out today. Water is back on, after G installed shutoffs.

There was a hole in the floor under one of the cabinets to let heat up through the floor, and out a vent in the bottom of the cabinet. There are two radiators under the floor. Strange. There are two other baseboard heaters in the kitchen.

Here's a link to the album - a few new pics up today.

I should be able to post some pictures of the before and after on our kitchen over the weekend.

As I thought, the countertop guy called the first day of our vacation to let us know they were in and he could install them soon. The plumber is coming out today to fix a minor leak, then the countertops will go in on Friday. I have a few small touch ups to make on the walls and have to put in a few sections of trim, but that is it.

This will conclude the inside home improvement until this winter.

The cabinets are in!!
G and my dad got them in yesterday. I'm SO happy! We'll have it measured for the countertops tonight or tomorrow night. :))))

I think I might have the same models and colors as your refrig and dishwasher, SG. Weird

Mine are less than a year old.

My over 3-month exterior remodel (over 6 months if you include the first half of the work done last year) is wrapping up today. Went around last night to make up the "punch list" of stuff I didn't think looked right.

It will be nice coming home every day to a house uncluttered by platforms, ladders, people and sawdust. And which looks 100 times better than it did this time last year.

SG, those look great! It's kinda fun getting to see yours up. All I got to see at KSI was a door front and drawer of the style. The hickory will look a bit different though. Gordie really did a nice job! I really like your pantry/broom closets around the fridge. Wish we had room to do something like that.

Joe's going to save our countertop and set it on top of the new cabinets until the granite comes (2-3 weeks after measurement).

I am thinking about having him pull the old counters back in too, but I don't have a sink anyway, so I still can't do much in the kitchen.

I have already put a few things back in. I have a TON more space than I had before!

I should post some before pictures (if I knew how) of my place. I've not done a thing and everything needs to be done, walls, floors, ceiling, plumbing, wiring. It's the outside that drew me and continues to hold me here. So far the inside is just for cooking, eating and sleeping.

sass - I plan on doing that "when I get to it". I did think ahead so I have before, during and after pics. You can barely see our house from the road because we are in the woods, so no address on the house. :)

What wknd!

Started with a late friday emptying the last of the kitchen and a night of drinks with nigal and Sass by the campfire out back. It took Nigal and I 7hrs to entirely gut my kitchen (all drywall, accoustic tile ceiling and furing strips and floor) including cleanup. The floor was a mollycocker! 2 layers of linoleum, 1/4" plywood, glued on tile, 3/4" t&g plywood, 3/4" t&g planking. I actually had to use my friggin chainsaw on part of it. Then we drank.

Woke up and headed to HD, forget the Credit Card. Went home. Loaded up rifle and ammo into the car and off to the range (the house isnt going anywhere).Met two buddies and introduced Nigal. We shot about 90minutes. Back home to HD. Changed out the 60amp electric service with a new shiny 100amp (32 circuit) panel with a seperate service disconnect outback( code requirement). Nigal left, cleaned up all messes. Put in 2/3 of kitchen subfloor (3/4" t&g OSB). Mounted all new electric boxes for new wiring. Recleaned up new messes.

Nigal is the man for his help. Couldnt have done it without him.

Now I drink.

Today is a cause for celebration and consumption of spirits!!!

The kitchen is ready for drywall! I wrapped up all the lose ends yesterday and today. Finished moving the ductwork, terminating all 14 new electrical circuits (even added some slick hidden receptacles for accent lighting) sanded joists and bleached em once more. Swapped all crawl space visqueen, put in subfloor and sealed all cracks with expandable foam. Picked up all supplies for bathroom phase excluding tile. FWIW 16ft drywall sux to move. Sanded and sealed ancient ceiling mold, sparypainted mirror inmage of lighting layout of floor for install after drywall. Cleaned up my mess. Gonna pick up the house. I may shave too, its been 10days.

Thanks for putting up with inane updates, I just wanted to keep tabs on progress...

Drywall should be doneby friday(prolly thurs) at the latest, cabinets installed by sat eve. I see some light at the end....

Wow, birch, you're really moving!! Its such a crappy process, but so nice when its done.

We're waiting on the counter tops to be delivered. Then its a sink hookup, floor, and its all done!!! G painted this week.

I still have to clean out the cupboards and put things away, but if he's going to be installing the tops, there's only so much I can put away.

Should be done next week!!!!!!

sweet SG! I am sure you'll be happy to be done.

I am actually really enjoying the work. There is a load of it so I better keep smiling. Just found out the dry waller (I will never do this, it'd look like mashed taters) will be here at 8am tomorrow so today is gut the bath to bare frame and joists day. I just need to rip the floor and tub, I am glad my lav is very small.
