Looking for info/company “I am going to attempt the Presi Traverse on May 19,20,21 depends on weather and or if anyone joins me. I may try to do it solo in one day but i am open to taking two if i must. If anyone wants to join please feel free to e-mail me or if anyone has already done it durning this time of year please drop me any info that you think might be important. Thank you in advance. \ dsmith@cgcescanaba.uscg.mil -Dan” 7:12:17 AM 5/06/06 “I did a loop that included some of the traverse on a Memorial day weekend. Some trail had just opened as the snow and ice melted away from the trail. Trails could still be very wet from melt. I suggest watching trail conditions for the trails you plan on doing, there is a good flow of trail condition reports at http://www.viewsfromthetop.com/trail/nh/index.html” 7:21:09 AM 5/06/06 “Anyone have any links handy to detailed trip reports or itineraries for a 3- or 4-day Presidential Traverse? I have maps, but I am interested in reading about the exact routes that others have used. I am planning to hike from early afternoon Friday to mid-afternoon Monday (sort of four days/three nights). If not a loop, please offer suggestions for transportation from end point to start point. Thanks!” 10:55:53 PM 9/20/06 “Fritz, there is a shuttle service. There is a site that I've forgotten, but you can google Mount Washington and go to the links. Doug” 1:55:33 PM 9/21/06 “Thanks, Doug! I found this: http://www.outdoors.org/lodging/lodging-shuttle.cfm But apparently they don't operate on Fridays in October. (This trip will be Oct. 6-9.) I will keep looking. Or we could always just hitchhike.” 3:48:03 PM 9/21/06 “TT links my two hikes that included a Presi traverse are (on the second link, I hit the presis on day 5). In each, I spent two nights out on the Presi portion. http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/10021,-1.php http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/25031,-1.php last edited: 9/21/06 3:55:44 PM” 3:52:53 PM 9/21/06 “I think the Barn and Hiker's paradise will shuttle you if they are still up and running. A really neat loop would be to take the AT from Pinkham, but take Davis after Mt. Washington and then come out Rocky Branch. There is a short road walk, but its also an easy hitch. You can take in Mt. Isolation as small side trip. I did a variation on this (starting out with Rocky Branch and coming down Huntington Ravine to Pinkham - which ommits Jefferson, Madison and Adams - which you would get, with only a slight detour over Adams if you followed the AT from Pinkham to Washington).” 4:02:07 PM 9/21/06
