Need help with a Glacier Honeymoon.
Hey guys, I am getting married in August and we want to visit Glacier. We have 5 days there exluding travel days. We would like to hike maybe 3 days and hotel and drive around 2. I am looking for hiking route suggestions. Nothing TOO hardcore but rewarding still. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Congrats David! I was wondering when we would see news of the wedding date. Sweet honeymoon!

I wish I could help with Glacier. Maybe check out the link attached, unless you already have.

Sorry I saw the Thread and I thought you were asking how to make the honeymoon as cold as a glacier....

A friend found that being caught laying pipe with the Maid of honor works great.

I just worked out a Glacier trip myself for early august. The backcountry Ranger did not give us a single campsite we requested because of last minute closures, but he gave us a route that was almost as good. He really knew all the backpacking sites, distances and difficulties quite well. I would call them and ask the Ranger who manages the permits, and seek his advise on a route. 406-888-7857

Be sure to get there before all the glaciers melt.

Glacier routes
For sure: Highline trail from Logan Pass to Granite Park Chalet and to The Loop, easy 12 miles. Mostly above treeline for your viewing pleasure. You can catch the shuttle back to Logan Pass. It's only a few miles, I'd thumb.
Divide Peak: Just south of St. Mary. Head south outside of park to high point just a couple miles up the highway which is the Hudson Bay divide, take a right on dirt road keep driving toward peak until you can't go anymore follow NE ridge, aim for abandoned lookout. Route is obvious from there. You won't be in GNP until the summit as the boundry between the park and the Blackfeet rez is through the summit. About 4 hours, fabulous views west into the park. It's a walk up, my dogs went.
Try Iceberg Lake for an easy day hike, Avalanche Lake for an easy afternoon, and when you're car touring do the Hidden Lake overlook from Logan Pass.

There is an easy, yet magnificent dayhike from Logan Pass to Hidden Lake with views such as these:

I saw a griz at Logan Pass years ago.

Awesome :)

(esp cuz it was about 200 yards away!)

Read Grizzly Years by Doug Peacock for a great read/intro to griz lifestyles.
