Am considering going over to the Mississippi to do a little hiking, exploring and camping in the backwater areas. There's a couple neat places where you can walk across the river on a spillway from the west side to the east (and the dam/lock on the east/WI side).

And if it sucks cuz the boaters are just freakin' nuts on the first big summer weekend, backpacking lies close by.

Will see... Just started exploring the pool areas this past year. Kinda neat!

And lest you think this is a wienie river, the spillways I'm thinking of are 2 miles across! :-)

Lacrosse Pool 8.

I was caught totally by surprise when I (la)crossed into the topography of MNs Bluff Country. Mountains in the Upper Midwest. Who'd thunk it?

Perhaps I'll cruise it again someday...

Thanks for preventing me from talking to myself. LOL!

I was telling a friend about this plan who said, "Take a gun!" And then I remembered, sheesh, we are talking wacko river rat people here! lol... Maybe I'll day hike the riverlands and sloughs. Will have to see how bad the skeeters are. It's supposed to be freakin' **NINETY** out!!! Most Memorial Days the snow flies. NO LIE!

will get to test the "heat stress thingee" right away this summer, for better or worse

Anyhoo.. When I'm in the backwoods by the river I can hear the faint call of......

CABELA'S!!! YUM, I smell gear..... LOL

Oh, I mean the fact that I seem to get heat stressed, lol, not some magical thing to relieve it. OH!! IF ONLY!!

I just mean I need to get out in this heat so early in the summer hiking season and see how it goes. Someone suggested I use Gatorade in my water to replace electrolytes. Of course, I just got back from two sporting good stores in Roch and didn't think to get any! guess that's a Wally World stop... and maybe for bug spray, too.

so what ya doin' OObrett?
