Hiking counter-clockwise will put us at camp at about noon. Why not hike clockwise (7 to 8 miles) and get into camp at 3 or 4?

Just a suggestion.

but if you hike clockwise you loose 3 hours and that would put you there at noon anyway ;)

it's not my trip so i guess i can't really make the call but if they wanted to they'd make this a private trip and you couldn't even view it...plus, knowing golfhiker he'll have no problem with you going...the more the merrier

You can come, but only if you hump in a cooler full of icy cold beer!

j/k - The campsite I believe we will be at on Saturday is big enough for a small army. Plenty of room for that cooler! he he he he

Oldog, it doesn't not really matter to me. I am up for almost anything.

OO Brett, if you are refering to route 37 in Indiana, proceed as follows...

37 south or north to 46 east (Bloomington). After you cross railroad tracks, stay alert for 46 making a left. Stay on 46 until you hit 446. Take 446 south about 11 miles or so (after you cross Lake Monroe stay alert) Entrance will be on a dirt road on your left. I beleive there is a sign for Charles Deam pointing you here. Blackwell horse camp is about .25 miles down on the left, you cannot miss it. I am guessing we will park towards the left corner as we have in the past.

First trip for my new tent!! Lunar Solo!!
Wow,
I think I finally got the tent that works for me. Only took five tries!!! This trip is really picking up. It will be good to see some of the same people from Adena Trace. I would vote for the longer trail route that WK was talking about. However, I am not trying to influence anyone’s decision. It would be cool to try and make one of the Campsites on Monroe Reservoir, but that is on the Grubb Ridge loop and might require some bushwhacking. I am going to tag the Morgan Monroe 1 nighter http://www.thebackpacker.com/trips/trip/953.php on the back of this trip if anyone else has some free time during the week you might check it out!(Yes, GH, I’ll make this one happen)
See ya later.

you weekend warriors :P
The Low Gap is gonna be the one that is "not to be missed" LOL! ;-) Especially if you like ghosties. Anyone know the stories about the cemeteries in the Morgan-Monroe?
Seriously though...
If any of you would like to make both trips, you are more than welcome! I wish I could swing both myself.

"early season"? its JUNE! where tf have you been?

i went to two trips in early march this year, one to the grand canyon (12 hikers) and one to adena trace (15?). now those are some trips to live up to!

Crash... I was with you on the Adena Trace in March.. in this case I was only taking literary license to pump up our little walk in the Deam. As for "early season", I should have said "early summer". In any event, I'm pumped for the weekend!

We past someone the other weekend lugging a cooler back to the parking lot! Wish we had him on our trip!

Some of you may know that Salem will now miss this trip due to a death in his family. Grandmother passed away. We'll all miss Salem & be thinking of him this weekend. As he told me " I'll catch you all later this season".
