Good Cause!
There is a web page which uses the yahoo search engine that will donate money to charity ever time you do a search. You get to select the charity - you can even nominate a school or a charity and they can set it up.

I nominated "Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors" and it just appeared as an option. Please give it a try. Please also consider choosing "Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors" as you charity, at least until you find another or get your favorite charity nominated. All you need to do is put the word "burn" in the second little window next to "I'm supporting" then click verify and select the Phoenix Society - or you can cut and paste your name.

Each time you use it, you're charity gets 1 cent. But, if 100 of us use it 3 times a day, that's more than 1,000 dollars to charity.

The site is: http://www.goodsearch.com/

Sounds great but I have a trilateral contract with Google, Satan and myself written in dead baby’s blood that says I can only use Google.

Thanks bear.

Don't worry Nigal's corpse - that contract is only enforceable if written in live baby's blood.

Thanks for the tip. I just tried it and it was easy to do so I'll keep using it when I need to search something.

ahem:

my ethics professor in college was always preaching about some click for food aid deal on the internet in the late 90's...it was some humanitarion org..not sure excately....why donate based on clicks..why not donate the max you can give regardless of clicks...that's a strange ethical answer i know..but you don't get your ads shown that way

Opie: The deal is that a share of ad revenue goes to the cause and ad revenue is based on clicks. Thos humanitarian sites are still up and running - they basically donate to causes in order to get you to look at ads. Not a bad idea, I do them sometimes (was this it? http://www.thehungersite.com/ )

The thing about the search is that even though the fund raising mechanism is the same, it raises chairty money by having you do something you'd do anyway - just from a different portal.

BTW - you can use Goodsearch without using their toolbar. Usually adding toolbars means adware.

Sometimes I feel guilty giving him that nickname, but sometimes - I'm damn pleased with myself for it.

I registered "Bush League Batters for Satan" as a charity. Wonder if it will make it.
