LOL!” 10:39:44 AM 1/23/07 “I guess you're gonna find out, Nigal! Be careful, though, it might lead to other things!” 10:42:27 AM 1/23/07 “The only thing it better lead to is a sandwich and a nap.” 10:44:52 AM 1/23/07 “LOL! You guys are too funny. Smiley, are you with child, or what?? Don't be coy, spit it out!! :-D” 10:46:43 AM 1/23/07 “Exactly what Lyra said! Don't be pulling a "Spirit Coyote" on us.” 10:50:53 AM 1/23/07 “Pineapple PINEAPPLE PINEAPPLE!!!!!!! Nigal, is that what your wife is going to say about the new schedule?” 10:51:00 AM 1/23/07 “See the Get Up thread.” 10:58:27 AM 1/23/07 “LOL! AT DH. You never forget anything do you?” 11:03:18 AM 1/23/07 “N - when we were at the lodge they had pamplets for every state park in KY. I saw the one for Big Bone Lick SP. Methinks, Hmmm, I should take this pamplet home. I gave the pamplet to my wife and sort of gave her the, "How You Doin'," look. It really hurts when the person you've been with almost 20 years laughs in your face.” 11:15:46 AM 1/23/07 “I drive by Big Bone Lick every time on the way to RRG and I giggle like a little schoolgirl every time I see the sign. LOL!” 11:17:52 AM 1/23/07 “Freelance Library of Congress (LOC) Registered Researcher. A friend of my Wife, Professor in Illinois, Is completing a History book for publication. She needed some crap from LOC which wasn't on-line and asked if I was looking for some extra work. So I registered (gotta do it in person), and went to work. Don't get the idea that I'm promoting a business or anything for researchers/writers that might need info (pictures, docs, manuals, manuscripts) from LOC. Just that I did it. And I'm local. And I'm registered.........................that's all.” 2:01:11 PM 1/23/07 “Oh man, that's cold, dayhiker.” 2:03:05 PM 1/23/07 “[b]WAY TO GO [b]” 1:59:11 PM 1/24/07 “Yay! Nigal got the job! After working for the same two guys for 9 years I'm leaving for a real job. No more self employment. No more 33+% tax rates. No more one day off a year. No more not being able to call off sick. I've got benefits now!” 1:59:30 PM 1/25/07 “Congrats Nigal!!!” 2:15:21 PM 1/25/07 “thats great news!” 2:16:25 PM 1/25/07 “Good for you!” 3:00:41 PM 1/25/07 “As we say in web parlance... w00t!” 3:03:34 PM 1/25/07 “That sounds awesome, Nigal! You go girl.” 3:19:54 PM 1/25/07 “CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” 4:25:28 PM 1/25/07 “I started today also...L33t!!” 4:28:39 PM 1/25/07 “Congrats, Nigal!” 6:27:20 PM 1/25/07 “Thanks everyone. I've been beating my head against a wall trying to get a job at the big hospital but without any time in a facility (working there, not as a guest) it's tough tot get in. I ended up getting a better package at Hospice and the money's about the same. The best part is 30 days off a year to spend hiking with my friends...that's you guys.” 6:36:00 PM 1/25/07 “I got transferred to the bakery department. Tomorrow at 4AM is when I start. More pay, about the same hours. Of course my last shift as a cashier ends tonight at 7PM, so I won't get much sleep tonight. I found out about this on Friday. They had some people transfer from another store that was closed, and most of them wound up on the front end. So it's off to doing doughnuts and bread and such. I've liked being in the front end, but I can't really argue with the pay increase. I reckon I'll get used to the new hours by-and-by.” 10:07:51 AM 5/06/07 “More pay and more bread.... cool. I couldn't deal with those hours, though (and I would be in Serious Trouble with doughnuts around).” 12:39:53 PM 5/06/07 “Cool cool Leofric! Question: Would you recommend cashier job at albertsons? I hear they have openings at my store. I do hate the union aspect in a big way. I def need at least 32 hours and health care. btw, that seat thing you said was there, isn't. one of the cashiers is pregnant and she really wishes is was, poor girl is due in June.” 2:42:01 PM 5/06/07 “What's wrong with the union? Not politically correct for conservatives? If you had a representative on your current job the boss would have to play by the rules set down in "the contract"......no contract and the boss has a much freer hand to harass. They won't let a pregnant woman have a chair?? See? Years ago I was a breadman in D.C. with start times of 4:00 AM. Oh yeah, I was a Teamster......still am. That was a great place to work and the work was hard.......good people......great products......shared success. We worked under a good contract with serious workers and little turn-over. Thieves and goof-offs were weeded out by the process. The bakery workers and drivers made a good living and the company enjoyed success. Work Union, Live Better rant over..............” 2:59:19 PM 5/06/07 “It's a round bar that slides out to rest your tush on. It doesn't look like much when it's tucked away and you might miss it. Nobody uses it at my store and nobody mentioned it to me but I noticed it there. Make that 3AM, they changed my schedule already. I've enjoyed working front end, and I've had no trouble getting 36 or so hours per week. They like to start people as courtesy clerk though, and that means pushing shopping carts around in the parking lot.” 9:00:41 PM 5/06/07 “Leo, think how early you'll get off work to hit the trails on Friday!! Coolness. And you get to learn how to bake. Congrats. Pamela, Union jobs for the most part are excellent. The dues generally aren't that much and MarkO is correct, you wouldn't have any of the issues you've had with transfers being denied and injury right now. You may have to watch as folks who don't pull their weight go through a looooong firing process but, if you just focus on your own work it doesn't make too much difference.” 7:17:48 AM 5/07/07 “Okay, so the bakery career was short-lived. I think it would've worked out except the bakery manager has issues, and I was just the latest in a long line of bakers who didn't last. I'm happy to be back to front end cashiering, and word is I'm up for assistant manager training. The front-end manager was so tickled to have me back. It's so nice to be someplace you're wanted.” 11:53:24 PM 5/16/07 “that was a short stint, Leo. i recently began working in the hardware department at a Sears.. it's a pretty fun job” 12:12:43 AM 5/17/07 “Do what you like, where you feel needed. THAT is the ultimate success. Leo, years ago I got canned by a somewhat psychotic Construction Company President. We did not know it at the time but Alzheimers was stealing most of his mind. Its sad when that happens...but such is the manner of free business.” 7:36:14 AM 5/17/07 “I did a stint in hardware back in the Pleistocene.... People looking for things you never knew existed, like "wood strews".... And there's always a run on duct tape and "poly" after the first cold snap.” 7:53:23 AM 5/17/07 “"wood strews".... Is that how they screw in Georgia?” 7:56:52 AM 5/17/07 “wood strews Mulch?” 8:24:20 AM 5/17/07 “In answer to Markys question..... Tilt...remember that chick you were hanging out with the other day at the office....yeah well we found her shoes, and would like to talk to you about it. (LOL) ”8:40:57 AM 5/17/07 “No Comment. Flathead strews, oval-head strews, round-head strews, self-tapping sheetmetal strews.... you name it. Philips, Torx, machine-head --- They were strewn everywhere.” 8:57:36 AM 5/17/07 “And speaking of STREWN everywhere...Tilt...her thong...yeah well there is a fan on the top of the elevator...and you know if you get something wedged into it...even a wisp of cloth..um yeah...we will talk. (LOL)” 9:01:00 AM 5/17/07 “Geez Tilt, you're reminding of when some guy bumped one of the hardware shelves at my dad's machine shop. Thousands of fasteners and little bits and bobs, all needed resorting after that. That was a nightmare.” 9:26:10 AM 5/17/07 “so i got an offer that i accepted last week from a new company. i start on the 6th of august. it's sad to leave my current employer of 8 years but this new job is going to be really great... something new!” 7:55:18 PM 7/25/07 “Congratulations Jimmy san!” 8:01:18 PM 7/25/07 “Congrats dude.....” 8:02:09 PM 7/25/07 “Congratulations!! I'm thinkimg of taking a retiremen at 53.” 8:05:04 PM 7/25/07 “you dog! i hope you do it... you'll be an inspiration to me... i am 41 and want to do it tomorrow! haha!” 9:44:04 PM 7/25/07 “Good for you Jimmy! What'll you be doing?” 3:16:18 AM 7/26/07 “presales engineering but it's a small company and i am told i'll have to 'wear a lot of hats' which is exactly where i thrive. i have never done well in a tightly regimented organization where you are expected to do your job and -only- do your job. the pay is fair, meaning that i am being paid a fair wage for the work they will expect of me, but the difference in opprotunity and potential for job satisfaction is radically different. i interviewed with the CEO, CTO, Chairman, VP of Sales, Presales Manager, etc, etc. i was impressed with everyone and can't wait to work with them... esp the CTO who says he is a rock climber and suggested a trip to the gunks... haha, can't beat that for a connection, eh? i am totally pumped. a fresh start with a great company full of great new people and new friends!” 6:38:05 AM 7/26/07 “I say ya show up the first morning wearing this hat... ![]() First impressions are important. Congrats on the new job dude!” 6:39:38 AM 7/26/07 Kevin... “Research it, but don't worry over it to much...there are WAY to many jobs working on the contractor side to do that(assuming you have issue or second thoughts after retirement)...if you retire and get better, the retirement check just adds to the income from your contract job at better pay...” 6:42:53 AM 7/26/07 “Sounds like a killer deal...congrats.” 6:44:41 AM 7/26/07
