I am forced to share the public roadways with speeders. I want cars banned.

There is absolutely a health risk with second hand smoke, it has been linked to Asthma and ear infections in children. It is also offensive to non-smokers when it gets on their clothes and in their hair. Oh, I'm a smoker and BTW CB, I'm looking forward to meeting you too......

hehe

dont take me too seriously, backy. when i said "fvck smokers", that was just for the boneheads who wear their political incorrectness like a badge of honor. you know who im talking about. the kind of ppl that are always denouncing pcism as if it makes them interesting and edgy

Yeah, I'd be a hell of a lot more edgy if I was living in my mom's basement telling the whole world they're wrong. I'm surprised you haven't made People Magazine's most eligible bachelor’s list you're so cool.

Now I will divest myself from any responsibility to my above words by claiming I said it in sarcasm.

I will probably be going out more often now that NJ has a ban in place. Health effects aside, I can tell you it’s a whole lot more enjoyable paying good money for a meal and not having to smell/taste smoke. I was never in a restaurant no smoking area that actually worked.

That's the thing I hate worst about going to a concert is stinking afterwards. A no smoking section in a building is like a no peeing section in a swimming pool.

you missed a prime opportunity to razz me about my clipped finger, nigey-poo. we're going to have to revoke your un-pc badge

It is completely ridiculous that the majority (people who simply would like to not be exposed to a substance that is proven to kill, maim and disfigure) has to fight for the ability to not be exposed to the bad habits of the minority.

The paradigm is backwards.

Automobile exhaust is a much bigger health problem than second hand smoke (not to mention car accidents), and its not confined to certain buildings I can choose not to enter. And drivers can be pretty obnoxious. Should we ban all unessential driving?

I don't smoke and prefer not to be around cigarette smoke, but I don't need the law to step in and help me avoid it.

Are there bars or restaurants that are smoke free by choice? (Not a rhetorical question – I’m cereal.)

How about people who work in those industries? It is a workplace safety issue.

Violin....I guess it would be a safety issue...but then that is an issue with CHOICE. There is no way a sane justice could say they were being FORCED to work there.

CO goes smoke free in all public buildings on July 1! - inlcuding restaurants and bars.

they got it pushed thru primarily on the issue of workplace safety.

That's how they pushed it through here in New York.

"I don't smoke and prefer not to be around cigarette smoke, but I don't need the law to step in and help me avoid it.”

That's where I stand Ped. We also have to keep in mind that the business owner should be allowed to make the choice of weather they want smokers there or not. Those that don't mind smoke will still come. Those who want to smoke will come. Those who DON'T want to smoke will go elsewhere. Thos ewho don't mind working in smoke will work there. Those who MIND will work somewhere else.

JeEEZE I was in a bar one night (smell of smoke) and I was watching the 40ish who look 90 from continued boozing....when they crash who pays for their medical? Who sucks up their care?

My fear is that this is the nose of the camel under the tent.

the thing is that there are so very very few (if any) bars and restaurants that are truly smoke free. Thus, the smokers of the world are preventing me from being able to go to virtually any bar or restaurant and enjoy it (much less keep my clothes from stinking up the house when i go home). They can go outside to smoke and still enjoy the bar.

Where I live we have quite few places that are smoke free and the places where you can smoke few actually do. I'm not talking bars though. I don't go into bars very much. But then again if you're in a bar you're not really thinking of your health anyway because you're likely drinking and/or lookin' to score.

just coz i might go drink a beer doesn't mean i want to be immersed in a giant ash tray.

or that so many fight so hard to be able to poison themselves to death, and another group fights so hard to enable them
