great vidoe WW. Cool how the words to the song seem to be made for some of the pics.
I was singing that song while hiking that trail. ;-)

One of my favorite memories from this trip...is that moment in time when we had all retreated to our tents during the thunderstorm, laying in my bag and listening to Songbyrd and Turbo singing from their tent...I believe they were even taking requests :) Too cool!....just one of those little things that makes a trip unique.

I had an awesome time and I miss you guys.

I remember talking with someone on the trip about the world's largest granite monoliths. I did a google on it and it seems pretty unclear. Stawamus Chief up here is claimed to be #2 behind the Rock of Gibraltar #1. El Capitan is also claimed to be #1

My modem went down about a week ago so I've done a quick catch up. Great jobs on all the pics folks. I miss everybody too and can't wait to do it all again. Gnome..does that pic make you a "Pirate of the Carabiner" 8P. I see that my political influence rubbed off on ladyhiker and she's now a Bush person. O K so now you wish my modem stayed down huh? Congrats to everyone for accending Half Dome. Great pose Bear!

I will G-daughter's first BP trip.
It's a really neat lake, the outlet falls into a big hole and goes underground. You can follow it's course by the "culvert" and hear it rushing below. Then the creek gushes out from under a big rock.
If she gets tried before we get to the lake there are lots of places to make camp.
Then if we can keep her up late enough there's the Perseids Meteor Shower.

www.Stardate.org says: Perseid meteors will appear to "rain" into the atmosphere from the constellation Perseus, which rises in the northeast around 11 p.m. in mid-August.

Grand-daughter is 5 years old.

What time are you heading out on Sunday?
the-naviguesser

Cool, hope I can stay up that late to watch.

Not sure what time were heading out. We'll say our goodbyes to the continuing group. It's a 7 mile hike out, then a four mile water ferry back to the car. I'm sure we'll plan to eat somewhere on the way home. What's your plans? Where will you park for your hike? I leave in 1 hour.

Half Dome CDs
I will make Jene, WW, and Jerbear CDs as soon as Microsoft finishes figuring out the operating system glitch that freezes up my computer and assures me that it isn't contagious. They haven't suggested it is, but just to be sure. Jerbear, e-mail me your address.

It's quite nice to see a few familiar faces on such an outing. Yosemite is a beautiful place and a good choice for your trip.

I think it was Galen Rowell who once said that among all arts, the art of photography is most like the art of music. So, if this forum could sing, I'm sure there would be melodies and themes of drama in our hearing.

When you photograph the wilderness, and these lovely places, make your music. Think on that.

Loved the photos and stories. Thanks for sharing 'em.

Nice one WW ! .... and happy anniversary

I just got back from 4 days at Garibaldi, up near Whistler. Unfortunately the peaks and glaciers were hiding in the clouds most of the time. Climbed Black Tusk for the big views and couldn't see a darned thing. Hopefully I got a few shots worth looking at though
