Mountaineering bootsView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 10 of 10 messages posted.
size 9.5 US mens “I have a pair of plastic double mountaineering boots on e-bay if anyone is interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/Asolo-AFS-Mountaineering-boots-Mens-US-9-5_W0QQitemZ150014992323QQihZ005QQcategoryZ2020QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem They were a fraction too small for me and killed my toes on downhills so I replaced with some Koflachs the next size up. The Koflachs are better for my toes, but the Asolos were easier to put on and take off and the liners are thicker/warmer.” 6:53:05 AM 7/26/06 “How does M 9.5 translate to women's sizes? I'm in the market for a pair of mountaineering boots... And, I'd be happy to wear men's but there would prolly be too big. :-(” 5:45:50 PM 7/26/06 “according to this chart http://www.needlesports.com/charts/bootsize.htm 10.5 another link http://www.i18nguy.com/l10n/shoes.html#adult says the same last edited: 7/27/06 6:16:08 AM” 6:14:11 AM 7/27/06 “Do you usually wear a 9.5? Or did these particular boots run small or large for you?” 6:59:26 AM 7/27/06 “Just a note.... Plastic mountaineering boots usually come with the shells in full sizes and the liners come in half sizes. Example, shells will come in full sizes like 9, 10, 11 etc and liners will come in half sizes...9, 9.5, 10, 10.5, etc. It could be the other way around too, with shell coming 9.5, 10.5, 11.5, I think it depends on the manufacturer. You can often just move up a half size on the liner....as long as it fits the shell. last edited: 7/27/06 7:19:21 AM” 7:16:52 AM 7/27/06 “I wouldn't need to move up a half size, but down. Would that work, too?” 7:35:06 AM 7/27/06 “Yep, as long as the liner fits the shell range properly... shell 10 (10,11,12) would take a liner thats 10 or 9.5...but not a size 9 liner. Perhaps you could go to a 9, but I would thing the fit would be a tad loose and it might be a problem with how well front pointing works with your crampons. The built in rocker would be weird too I suspect. You would need to see if the manufacturer sizes the shells on the half size or full size. last edited: 7/27/06 7:52:50 AM” 7:48:22 AM 7/27/06 “Thanks for the info, steve. I'll check out the website.” 12:58:06 PM 7/27/06 “Just checked. The Shell is 9.5. And I normally wear a 9.5 boot. These seemed to fit snug, but were comfortable until a long downhill. So I guess they run a fraction small. I even tried wearing liners only as the insulation is really good, but still a no-go on downhills last edited: 7/27/06 2:56:50 PM” 2:52:52 PM 7/27/06 “Something I've been thinking about.... Since these shells come from European company's and they normally use mondo sizing, perhaps some of the problems people have with sizing is the cross over between mondo and American sizing. They may be "rounding" up or down a bit on some sizes. I'm going to check on that. last edited: 7/27/06 5:16:55 PM” 5:10:12 PM 7/27/06
