They would approach with demands we take care of "the people" when many of whom were demanding cradle to grave protection were those least likely to even try to take care of themselves. I am talking about the ABLE. We will be having a meeting of the Race Whores of America (REv Jessie, Al "make it up and stick with it Sharpton et al.) who will #&%!$ about the young black males who turn to crime rather than jobs. Want to know why? Well after almost 20 years working in the areas I have seen the evidence of these guys hitting an apartment stealing the copper wire out of the walls and melting it down for the metal. We figure they work 4 hours and may get $5.00 or so......but...(AND HERE IS THE KICKER) THEY can choose when to work. IF they want to stay blasted for a week, no biggie they will steal when they come down. They demand we TAKE CARE OF THEM, give them jobs THAT THEY CANNOT BE FIRED FROM, and let them play like they did in school. Few have any sort of education, much less a desire to learn. It comes back to one thing RESPONSIBILITY. You want to stop the unwed unmarried mother syndrome? Institute a program where the mother has to provide the name of the father (or the top ten suspects) you test them. The responsible one is told he owes the tax payer for the next 18 years. Yeah some will dodge it. But you put it on their record. If in five years they are pulled over driving a sweet set of wheels...TAKE IT. Sell it and recoup the losses. When they realize that a child is not 15 minutes of pleasure but 18 years of responsibility...the rate will go down.” 2:19:06 PM 8/11/06 “XL Playbook: #1 - Attack the messenger rather than the idea. RL is a Communist. #2 - Find an enemy. Let's blame a group that is easily targeted. Down with the blacks. The actual issue involved is the proper role of government in society. I like roads, firefighters and fiscally responsible government. And I like a government that actually cares about people in America rather than elsewhere. Do you have any actual ideas?” 2:27:48 PM 8/11/06 “"When they realize that a child is not 15 minutes of pleasure but 18 years of responsibility...the rate will go down." XL It'll be a cold day in Cuba when that happens. You can wish in one hand and schit in the other......which one will fill up faster?” 2:37:19 PM 8/11/06 “Here's a question? Why should it be our responsibility to create a Democratic Middle East? And how is it logical that a party with a complete lack of faith in government's ability to help people has this grand vision for reordering the Middle East? If big government doesn't work here, why should it work there? But if big government works there, why shouldn't it work here? Help me understand the conservative philosophy!” 2:39:38 PM 8/11/06 “Oh, that's right, it's because those government workers are in fatigues. I think we should swear in all the HUD and HHS workers, call them the Domestic Guard, put them in uniforms and attack all the antis as un-American if they don't like the work they do.” 2:43:15 PM 8/11/06 The Dead Heart (modified) “We dont serve your country Dont serve your king Know your custom dont speak your tongue White man came took everyone We dont serve your country Dont serve your king White man listen to the songs we sing White man came took everything We carry in our hearts the true country And that cannot be stolen We follow in the steps of our ancestry And that cannot be broken We dont need protection Dont need your land Keep your promise on where we stand We will listen well understand Mining companies, oil companies Walmart companies Auto companies Got more right than people Got more say than people Forty thousand years can make a difference to the state of things The dead heart lives here” 3:29:41 PM 8/11/06 “"15 minutes"? Y'all are single, yes?” 3:33:15 PM 8/11/06 “Really! That's some kind of crazy marathon sex right there.” 3:38:34 PM 8/11/06 “#1. RL I never called you a communist. #2 there are a S - load of a lot of more useless white trash out there...trust me I see it every day. As for the Democratic Middle East...what was the advantage to creating a Democratic Germany and Democratic Japan in 1945?...OH THATS RIGHT their fascist governments were bent on our total destruction.... 2001...no difference, the problem is that libs cannot see past their hatered of the American People for not electing them. They would rather throw the nation out for thier own political beliefs......” 3:44:24 PM 8/11/06 “Did Germany and Japan spend any money on defense since WW2? Has the US and it's annex Isreal spent more on defense than the rest of the world since WW2? Together, Isreal and the US comprise 4% of the worlds population.” 4:22:01 PM 8/11/06 “As for the Democratic Middle East...what was the advantage to creating a Democratic Germany and Democratic Japan in 1945?...OH THATS RIGHT their fascist governments were bent on our total destruction.... 2001...no difference, the problem is that libs cannot see past their hatered of the American People for not electing them. You were right.” 4:28:46 PM 8/11/06 “"BTW, America was founded on the premise of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" not life, liberty and the pursuit of property." I tend to avoid any and all political discussions, but that is just false. "Resolved, N.C.D. [2] 1. That they are entitled to life, liberty, and property..." http://www.constitution.org/bcp/colright.txt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life%2C_liberty%2C_and_property” 6:44:54 PM 8/11/06 “Sorry, Howie, but those were the words Jefferson (and the other signers) chose for the Declaration of Independence. And, of course, he was familiar with Locke's use of "property." He could have chosen it, but didn't.” 9:36:33 PM 8/11/06 “It's easy to demand lots of the ones you don't like But harder when your buddies see a coming tax hike” 8:47:13 AM 8/12/06 “See what I mean with the government thinks we’re too stupid to take care of ourselves and our generosity is underrated? Sadly some of our follow Americans have been so disenchanted by their government they believe it too.” 8:18:31 AM 8/13/06 “Do you need faster access and more time in the sky To extend your reach for that biggest piece of the pie?” 8:53:53 AM 8/13/06 “BTW, this idea that there was one original set of perfect ideas given down to us by the founding fathers is garbage. There was a range of belief in 1776. There is a range of belief in 2006. And I don't think that our current political system runs on ideas/beliefs anyway. It runs on power, money and strategy. A good idea these days is irrelevant. What matters is whether you can slam your slate through. Once a particular group gains power, that group can sort through the ideas.” 11:28:28 AM 8/13/06 “the pursuit of happieness was not written in any way to mean the government takes care of people. nor was it written to mean the government takes from some to give to others. it means that all are free to pursue what makes them happy with out infringing upon the liberties of others. our current form of government sucks. it is so far away from what was intended it's almost funny. btw, i can believe jefferson made those comments. wasn't he in favor of a republic, not a democracy? didn't he feel the average person wasn't learned enough to make educated decisions? isn't that why the congress used to elect the president? there's no moral fiber left. people will sell their souls for re-election. i'm all for term limits. do your civic duty and move on. elected official are the biggest welfare recipients in this country. they see it as their birth right or their proffesion instead of duty to the country.” 12:08:34 PM 8/13/06 “and nigal, your cartoon was gay...” 12:29:35 PM 8/13/06 “I like term limits too, but they need to be for staffers and lobbiest as well as politicians to make any difference.” 12:32:46 PM 8/13/06 “Hyway I think Lobbyists ought to be better identified. Additionally I think for someone who has served in elected office (Congress, President/Vice President) they should be banned for 4 years of any sort of lobbying activities. Additionally I think if those people do violate the laws, like taking money to lobby for a nation without registering as a lobbyist. They should lose all benefits (retirement, any other bennies for the position). They know the law they should lose it all.” 12:36:57 PM 8/13/06 “They should wear explosive ties and I'll have the remote I'll e-mail my picture to them whenever they vote” 2:18:03 PM 8/13/06 “Oh Hyway, that's Lawbeast not Lobbiest.” 2:58:17 PM 8/13/06 ““and nigal, your cartoon was gay...” when some people become so enabled by their government ya have to break it down as simple as possible for them. Even then they miss the point a lot of the time.” 4:15:18 PM 8/13/06 “i was joking nigal and your feelings on term limits?” 8:04:52 AM 8/14/06 “LOL...here is one, have a monthly lottery in the Congress. The winner/loser loses their entire campaign war chest to the US government. Think about it, Senator Blowhard has a War Chest of 20 Million or more....he loses, and has to start all over again.” 8:06:47 AM 8/14/06 “"and your feelings on term limits?” I think there should be term limits. Absolutely, positively there should be limits. I want the Bushs, the Kennedys, the Boxers, the Byrds…ALL OUT!” 8:16:34 AM 8/14/06 “I think we should have a national test that comes with your American ID card/implant that tests you on the basics of US system of government. Then all US citizens that pass the test are put into a lottery and the winners get to serve as our elected representatives and senators for 1 term.” 8:59:01 AM 8/14/06 “Hyway I think the Senate ought to be elected as it originally was designed...buy the State Legislature.” 9:10:08 AM 8/14/06 “Have you seen the credentials of most state legistlators?” 3:18:44 PM 8/14/06 “LOL...I got a couple who are adding about 8 years a piece in Edisto SC (LOL)...Federal Lock up” 3:28:53 PM 8/14/06 “I think you nailed it when you said buy the State Legistlature instead of by the State Legistlature.” 3:39:10 PM 8/14/06 “Thanks, violin. I’d never seen that one. It was pretty funny! “Put libertarians in power in washington and in less than 20 years other than the rhetoric and the sign on the door you wouldn't be able to tell them from republicans and democrats. Its the nature of our political system.” “Teh problem with the libertarian party is that its membership is made up more of people who are there because they hate repub or dems and can't go all the way to teh otherside, not because they have anything in common with each other.” Hyway Well now I’ve got two more to add to my list of why people find excuses not to vote Libertarian. My personal favorite is, “It’s a wasted vote, they don’t have enough votes to win.” As far as I know, it’s a Jefferson quote, pedxing. Jefferson gets quoted a lot on Libertarian sites. Jefferson, Madison, and Paine were all inspirations for the formation of the Libertarian party. People started to believe that we had gone too far away from the principles on which this country was founded. There are many similar Jeffersonian quotes. And there are many other quotes expressing similar sentiments: "That government is best which governs least, because its people discipline themselves." Thomas Jefferson “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground.” Thomas Jefferson "You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of many by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) last edited: 8/14/06 3:46:48 PM” 3:46:05 PM 8/14/06 “Arc , all you've said seems to define things well , but this governments' problems can be simply defined as a matter of scale- it's just too damn big. If only parameters were set and followed to the letter, size itself could bring this wonderful place back into the real world within 10 years. Then again, like stopping smoking ,it can't stop quitting.” 4:40:00 PM 8/14/06 “we need 5arge to come back to offer up the salebored translation” 4:58:48 PM 8/14/06 “You boyz don't want to understand what I say. Simplicity is just beyond those who spend their lives in piles of detail and complication to the point of total vapor lock occuring when simple broad real world concepts are cast in their predestined path. Why don't you understand? It directly comes down to my extremely independent lifestyle, which has been of total(50 years as an adult)capitalistic self employment and home grown creativity. When applied to matters of this country and its' government, my view is very rare for our times. Infact, so rare that it becomes objective , because I'm never involved with the common americans dependence on the gov., the economy, mortgages, car payments ,insurance and the such, I see things in a clean and simple way. Back to my post above. growth seems to be a vital part of all kinds of success, even if it's cancer. Growth leads to 'BIG', and big cancer as with big government is bad. The USE ( formerly known as USA) has become the United States of Enron, because of the uncanny simularities of the two.” 7:21:59 PM 8/14/06 “Gotta agree with Sale, if we limit the Government to a percentage of the GDP or better yet, if we run a deficit the congressmen pay for it out of their salaries, and campaign chests. The City of Augusta had to consolidate a few years ago becuase of the fact that at the end of the year, any deficit had to be made up by the Commisioners personally....LOL...” 8:08:09 PM 8/14/06 “Man XL, you are brutal, I was being liteweight in my assessment ,so 'GO FOR IT'. Calling 'WhachO', I mean "MarkO', that's threee!” 8:51:37 PM 8/14/06 “For the last several weeks the History Channel has aired 'Revolution' on Sunday nights. All is not as it appears, or at least not as it iscommonly perceived and reported.” 9:02:03 PM 8/14/06 “Absolutely, salebord. Government has its place. But the natural progression of governments, as with business, seems to be growth. We have a perfect example in our little burg. It’s very “liberal”, very “progressive”, and very socialist. The socialists came up with an idea to medically insure the uninsured in Gainesville through a .5% sales tax. The figures they gave were that there were 5000 people in our county who were in CRISIS by not having medical insurance. They promised us that this measure would save the taxpayers lots of money by not having to support indigent care in our local E.Ds. They got the measure onto the ballot during a primary election as opposed to a general election when turnout would have been larger. It passed by a slim majority. After a year, 250 people have signed up and there are millions of dollars in surplus in the program. So what do the “liberals” do now? Now they are proposing to expand the program so that more people can become eligible. Unfortunately this is not what the people voted for. They sold us a bill of goods based on faulty projections and good intentions. Instead of reducing the scope of the program, they now want to expand it. Once you get a tax in place, it’s difficult to stop the bureaucrats from wanting to find a way to spend it and expand their cherished programs. This is one way that people with the good intentions of how to use government slowly erode our income and thus our liberty. “Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the government’s purposes are beneficial. Men born to freedom are naturally alert to repel invasion of their liberty by evil-minded rulers. The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well meaning but without understanding.” Justice Louis D. Brandeis Olmstead v. OK, he can barely talk.” 8:07:46 AM 8/15/06 “It directly comes down to my extremely independent lifestyle, which has been of total(50 years as an adult)capitalistic self employment and home grown creativity. Organizers said there were around 1,000 people in a park in the capital, Colombo, listening to a range of speakers when hardline saffron-robed monks opposed to concessions to Tamil Tiger rebels mounted the stage and erected banners. Some more moderate Buddhist monks, protesting for peace, were already on the stage when punches were thrown. Soon, monks' robes and fists were flying, although no one was badly hurt, witnesses said. "They were saying we should go to war," said pro-peace monk Madampawe Assagee. "We like to listen to other opinions so we let them do that but then they started fighting and we couldn't control some of our people. They tried to make it a big fight but we settled it in a few minutes." Sri Lanka is currently embroiled in the worst fighting with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) since a 2002 truce, with many believing a two-decade civil war has resumed. Hardline monks -- allies of President Mahinda Rajapakse -- say the government is too soft on the rebels and want military action. The island is dominated by the Buddhist Sinhalese majority, but is also home to Muslims as well as minority Tamils -- some Hindu, some Christian. The hardline monks are violently opposed to Tiger demands for a separate Tamil homeland. A Reuters photographer said the fight first erupted between a speaker at the rally -- a former government minister -- and a monk, and then turned into a wider brawl. Other religious leaders on the platform found themselves dragged into the melee. "By force, they disrupted the protest," said Jehan Perera, head of the National Peace Council, who took part in a peace march earlier in the day but had gone by the time the fight erupted. "But I think they're the minority. Most of the people we walked past were very supportive."” 1:50:58 PM 8/17/06 “If George Allen called a black Buddhist monk a monk, would it be construed as racist because someone thinks monk is short for monk-ey? Monks can kick arse. I saw it on a movie once. "Bulletproof Monk."” 1:56:39 PM 8/17/06 “Is there any video?” 3:03:15 PM 8/17/06 “It's better than what they used to do... ”3:06:16 PM 8/17/06
