“Reformed...that was the standard line of the old line Communists. They would approach with demands we take care of "the people" when many of whom were demanding cradle to grave protection were those least likely to even try to take care of themselves. I am talking about the ABLE.

We will be having a meeting of the Race Whores of America (REv Jessie, Al "make it up and stick with it Sharpton et al.) who will #&%!$ about the young black males who turn to crime rather than jobs.

Want to know why? Well after almost 20 years working in the areas I have seen the evidence of these guys hitting an apartment stealing the copper wire out of the walls and melting it down for the metal. We figure they work 4 hours and may get $5.00 or so......but...(AND HERE IS THE KICKER) THEY can choose when to work.
IF they want to stay blasted for a week, no biggie they will steal when they come down.

They demand we TAKE CARE OF THEM, give them jobs THAT THEY CANNOT BE FIRED FROM, and let them play like they did in school. Few have any sort of education, much less a desire to learn. It comes back to one thing RESPONSIBILITY.

You want to stop the unwed unmarried mother syndrome? Institute a program where the mother has to provide the name of the father (or the top ten suspects) you test them. The responsible one is told he owes the tax payer for the next 18 years. Yeah some will dodge it. But you put it on their record. If in five years they are pulled over driving a sweet set of wheels...TAKE IT. Sell it and recoup the losses.

Well now I’ve got two more to add to my list of why people find excuses not to vote Libertarian. My personal favorite is, “It’s a wasted vote, they don’t have enough votes to win.”





As far as I know, it’s a Jefferson quote, pedxing. Jefferson gets quoted a lot on Libertarian sites. Jefferson, Madison, and Paine were all inspirations for the formation of the Libertarian party. People started to believe that we had gone too far away from the principles on which this country was founded.

We have a perfect example in our little burg. It’s very “liberal”, very “progressive”, and very socialist. The socialists came up with an idea to medically insure the uninsured in Gainesville through a .5% sales tax. The figures they gave were that there were 5000 people in our county who were in CRISIS by not having medical insurance. They promised us that this measure would save the taxpayers lots of money by not having to support indigent care in our local E.Ds.

They got the measure onto the ballot during a primary election as opposed to a general election when turnout would have been larger. It passed by a slim majority.

After a year, 250 people have signed up and there are millions of dollars in surplus in the program. So what do the “liberals” do now? Now they are proposing to expand the program so that more people can become eligible.

Unfortunately this is not what the people voted for. They sold us a bill of goods based on faulty projections and good intentions. Instead of reducing the scope of the program, they now want to expand it. Once you get a tax in place, it’s difficult to stop the bureaucrats from wanting to find a way to spend it and expand their cherished programs.

This is one way that people with the good intentions of how to use government slowly erode our income and thus our liberty.

Monks brawl at peace protest

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Protesters calling for an end to recent violence in Sri Lanka found themselves brawling with hardline Buddhist monks Thursday, after a rally dubbed a "peace protest" turned unexpectedly violent.

Organizers said there were around 1,000 people in a park in the capital, Colombo, listening to a range of speakers when hardline saffron-robed monks opposed to concessions to Tamil Tiger rebels mounted the stage and erected banners.

Some more moderate Buddhist monks, protesting for peace, were already on the stage when punches were thrown. Soon, monks' robes and fists were flying, although no one was badly hurt, witnesses said.

"They were saying we should go to war," said pro-peace monk Madampawe Assagee. "We like to listen to other opinions so we let them do that but then they started fighting and we couldn't control some of our people. They tried to make it a big fight but we settled it in a few minutes."

Sri Lanka is currently embroiled in the worst fighting with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) since a 2002 truce, with many believing a two-decade civil war has resumed. Hardline monks -- allies of President Mahinda Rajapakse -- say the government is too soft on the rebels and want military action.

The island is dominated by the Buddhist Sinhalese majority, but is also home to Muslims as well as minority Tamils -- some Hindu, some Christian. The hardline monks are violently opposed to Tiger demands for a separate Tamil homeland.

A Reuters photographer said the fight first erupted between a speaker at the rally -- a former government minister -- and a monk, and then turned into a wider brawl. Other religious leaders on the platform found themselves dragged into the melee.

"By force, they disrupted the protest," said Jehan Perera, head of the National Peace Council, who took part in a peace march earlier in the day but had gone by the time the fight erupted. "But I think they're the minority. Most of the people we walked past were very supportive."”
