guilt over disappointment
ever have it? when you spent two weeks planning a kickass trip and then life throws you a cruve ball and you have to stay at home and deal with it. I feel so guilty for feeling disappointed for not being able to go on my kayak/camping because our sweet little dog is in the hospital fighting for her life.

I feel selfish, i hate being an adult sometimes
i do miss the carefree guiltless days of youth

Being an adult does suck sometimes.

Feel good that you had guiltless days of youth.

But I am sorry about your puppy dog.

Feeling bad about missing out on your trip is okay, even though you are conflicted about it.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I'll say a doggy prayer for her.

You should plan a float trip in the fall if you have the time. A trip down the upper Delaware with the leaves in full color makes for a great trip.

Hey Maple DORK - It's about the choices we make, not the impulses we feel. The brave people are always the ones who feel no fear, but they do the right thing regardless of their fear. A good person isn't someone who has no selfish concerns, but one who does the right thing.

So, go ahead and be dissapointed - but know you did the right thing.

the guilt would have been a lot worse if you had gone and left your dog on its own.

Right now I am guilty because I am disappointed that I cannot drink more. But somehow that doesn't seem the same.

hey maple I feel the same way all the time, everytime I miss a trip because I don't want to leave the wife alone with the kids. But they are getting older now and easier to handle so maybe I can hike more.

Responsibility means doing the right thing. I have found as I seek to be more responsible in life there are many times that the necessary moments in life require me to sublimate my personal desires to take care of what responsibilites there are. Mapes, I have been in similar situations, I am proud of how you handled it.

Maple's a wonderful woman, XL. This is typical of her. She never feels like she can do enough for another person/animal/other...

Yeah, mapes is great. Once when I was afraid I was impotent, she sent me those pics of her (you know the ones I mean, tree ;) ) and snapped me right out of it.
