Hiking with Dicentra and MaddieView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 6 of 6 messages posted.
“Ford and me have done the Naches Peak Loop trail at least once a year for the past 4 years. It is truly one of the best trails in the Mt. Rainier area. It isn't a hard trail, nor is it long (4 1/2 miles). But it is pretty. It piggybacks the PCT for half of the hike, passes a couple small tarns. And is above treeline most of the way. It sits at Chinook Pass which is on the "pretty" side of Rainier. Dicentra, her baby Maddie and Godly Girl picked us up, and off we went. We parked at Tipsoo Lakes (small alpine lakes that are split by the hwy, right below the pass), and hiked up to cross Hwy 410 on the PCT bridge that goes over. The trail was pretty much packed with people today, but I wasn't complaining. It was blue skies and a mild breeze. We didn't move fast, as this was Maddies first trip in a back carrier. It was just a slow hike and lots of talking. First small lake: ![]() Rainier: ![]() Dicentra and Maddie with Ford in the background: ![]() We had a picnic lunch, and stared off at Rainier and Mt. Adams. It was a good day. Then Ford and me went home. And went and shot off rockets with his Cub Scout troop ;-)” 11:09:13 PM 8/17/06 “Yowser, having a baby sure has put a rack on Di. Great pics.
