We'll bring the karaoke machine if someone has a generator...ha ha... (no, I'm just kidding...but I do have about 1,000 songs on Karaoke CD+G disks...for those who know the words, but just need the music. :-) )

“Pittsburgh is way south of where you want to be. If you come across to Cleveland then get and take Rt 17 across southern tier of NY you would be much closer. Coming through Canada may be less mileage, but the border crossings are no where near as easy as they used to be.”

“I was thinking Pittsburgh as a detour-- my best friend lives there with her hubby. Maybe on the way back we'd take the Canadian Route.

Going through Canada is pretty simple for us--we're just over the border in Michigan. ;-) My concern would be gas prices though-- Canadian gas was pretty out of control the last time we were over the border....”

“probably a good 10 hours. You would pretty much 10 I-81 most of the way and get off on US 15 the rest of the way. It is near Williamsport, PA.”

“I was thinking of possibly combining an overnighter on the OLP with this weekend. Start at Long Run and end at Masten I think it’s about 16 miles total. I haven’t been on this section of the OLP. I’d do about 10 miles the first day and camp at Yellow Dog Run. I’m thinking of doing this Thursday to Friday or Friday to Saturday. I’m not sure about all this yet. I’ll have to wait until it gets closer the date to see if the time off works out.”

I'll be driving down through Elmira toward Williamsport. Where do I go from there, or do I turn off before Williamsport?”

“you'll turn off before Williamsport onto Pennsylvania Rt 14 (east I believe), take for about 10 miles, then turn right onto Pleasant Stream rd and take for about 9 miles.”

pleasant stream "road" was a bit rough after all the flooding this year...count on a very slow progression for that 9 mile stretch. (unless you have 4-wheel)”

“it was pretty rough before the flooding this year. It look me a half an hour to drive those 9 miles the last time I was there, a year and a half ago.”

“I need (want?) to do the section of the OLP south of Pleasant Stream Road, from Short Run to Masten. Any takers? Can we knock it out in a day? If not, I'm up for an overnight stop along Wallis Run.

“there is going to be organized hiking.

Jmitch may lead a bushwhack on Sunday along Rock Run.

I am either going to trail run the entire Old Loggers Path on Saturday with Pennsy or hike the western half as a loop.

All kinds of room for organizing hikes though. I'd like to get there Thursday night. I'll be there all day Friday. I think most people will show up Friday night.

I'll do some kind of hike Friday too.

I think there were also be other activities like pumpkin carving and stuff like that.

This is definately a hiking / camping trip though.

PAhikes, I think your section can be knocked out in a day. Happy one year anniversery, btw!

“The more I think about this, the more I find myself justifying the trip.

I could work in Bristol on TH and bug out mid afternoon. If I stop and throw down a tent on TH night, I should be able to be there by mid afternoon on FR. I could come back to Bristol Sunday night, and work in the Tri Cities on Monday.

That would save a couple hours each way (as opposed to leaving/returning to Townend.

Oh well, just like a damn backpacker. Always figuring a way to make the trip.”
