Porkies, Michigan Reschedule for 9/22-24?
Just wanted to see if there's any interest in a short Porkies trip that I had to cancel. It would be the weekend of 9/22-24.

It's in Ontonagon, Michigan, as most of you know.

Here's the DNR site:

I think this plan provides a diverse experience and should be pretty leisurely.

INITIAL PLANS, INPUT WELCOME:

Friday: We'll meet at the ranger station 11 or 12 EST and register.

We'll get started at Lake of the Clouds or halfway through the Escarpment. I imagine we'll end up camping at the Meadows (about 1/3 way through Big Carp) or near junction of Correction Line & Big Carp, depending upon where and what time we start.

Saturday: We'll get up early and hike to either Shining Cloud Falls (a little more than 5 miles from the Meadows) or Lake Superior (about 7 miles from the Meadows, about 4.5 miles from BC/CL junction). Be nice to get to the lakeshore. There will be plenty of opportunity for dayhiking in this area, as there are quite a few junctions.

Sunday: Out via Pinkerton (through the huge hemlocks), from Superior, about 3.9 miles.

Anybody have any thoughts about the weather at that time of year?

Weather will be nice and cool. Ideal. I would love to go but I went to the Porkies this year already. I guess that place is so cool you can hardly go there too often.

Well, folks can feel free to chime in as to when it might work for them, maybe we can work something out. Graska, only that weekend or other weekends?

I'm going on a road trip vacation with the hubber in mid-October.

I wonder what it's like early November...last year, 40s during the day, 30/upper 20s at night. If could guarantee I would be warm at night, that sounds like it would actually be very nice. Maybe there was snow?

Hey thrifty--I found myself with Sunday off and I definitely looked at the Knobstone trip, but I wanted to try to see if I could reschedule Porkies first.

If I can't make that weekend go for Porkies, there's a good chance I'll join up with you guys.
