“THURSDAY, Aug. 31, 2006, 2:16 p.m. By Mike Johnson Dem Ex-candidate Charged with Election Fraud Donovan Riley, who dropped out of the race for a state Senate seat after allegations arose that he voted twice in the same election in 2000, was charged today by Waukesha County District Attorney Paul Bucher with voter fraud. Riley is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Sept. 11 a single count of felony election fraud-voting more than once. Riley was running for the seat held by incumbent Democratic Sen. Jeff Plale of South Milwaukee and was to face Plale in the Sept. 12 primary election. All Children Matter, a pro-school-choice group, filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Board claiming that Riley voted both in Wisconsin and in Illinois in the 2000 election. Bucher issued the charge after reviewing voting records from Cook County, Ill. In mid-August, Riley had issued a written statement that in 2000 he was dividing his time between Illinois and Wisconsin and "it's possible I made a mistake." Riley was living in Oconomowoc in 2000, but moved to the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee late last year. http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&date=8/31/2006&id=10750” 3:19:58 PM 8/31/06
