Patagonia Capilene_Base Layer?
Is the Patagonia Capilene really worth it, using it as a base layer in cold weather? Is there an alternative? I understand the moisture wicking idea but is there a cheaper way to dress warmer? I have found a few items on Ebay but they are still expensive used.
Thanks for suggestions!

This is what I've been using the past few years for a base layer.

i think its fantastic stuff.

bought a heavyweight shirt and cant get enough of it.

keeps you warm and does a great job of wicking.

have some super heavyweight poplypro that gets really wet when you start to sweat, not as good it seems.

I prefer the capilene to other products. It also doesn't hold stink as bad as other brands, IMO.

I trust my Patagonia base layer. But I can't say from experience how much better it is than Walmart, but I'mmmmm hopin'! Anyway, Patagonia should last much longer than the Asian stuff.

The Patagonia wear seems to be very good at moisure wicking and temperature control. I usually get them in black so that the sun helps warm me a little more than it would were I to wear a lighter color.

I like my capilenes, but generally I get to warm from all that stuff after 10 minutes of hiking.

It's not only really great for low odor and warmth it lasts a long long time. I think it's worth the extra $. It's really high quality stuff and it comes with a warrenty too.
