I live in Atlanta and have friends coming from the West Coast the weekend of Oct 20. Does anyone know a good one night camping location in the vicinity where leaves will be peaking at that time?

retungo...you might venture into North GA area or up around Cashiers, NC. The color in N GA won't be peaking but there will be color.

Changing? Hell, the trees in Wisconsin are as naked as that prosecutor in Ohio.

Want to keep our drive from Atlanta to 2 hours or less. This puts us just over the border into NC or TN. Thought of Cloudland Canyon, but wondering if there will be a more primo spot at that time...

My inlaws are in NC near Grandfather Mountain at a friends house right now. They say the color is breath taking.

Screw the 2 hour tour. Drive the whole Blue Ridge Parkway before you let um out the car.

Believe, I'd love to, but they're only here for 3 days. They've never been to Atlanta before, so the one nighter to see the leaves recently developed as a side portion of their visit.

Live oaks are already shedding their leaves here. So are deciduous trees, like sycamore, cypress and hickory trees. THose usually don't shed until thanksgiving or so.

Okay, so princess lives in Colorado?

THe poison ivy vines growing up the trees around here are a glorious scarlet, just like the rash they incur.
