I just got an exped weight capilene shirt off ebay. The seller only had x large, but I got a great deal so I thought I'd try it, even though I was fairly certain a large was plenty big.

The XL is pretty big. Is there any way to shrink this stuff? all my other capilene has stayed the same size, but maybe I can do it?

try running it thru the dryer a few times, I normally don't put my tech fabrics thru the dryer.

Some of the marketing says it won't shrink. Other says shrink resistant... so its probably hard to shrink. My worry would be that enough heat to shrink it would mess it up.

You might ask Patagonia.

I dried one of mine with the heat set highter than I thought, and it messed it up.

Drying it on high heat will adversely affect the performance of the fibers. Don't do it.

I didn't know that. I've always just washed and dried my stuff like I do everything else. Dump the clothes in, pour the soap, hit start. Then put it in the drier and push start.

Too bad they changed to capilene 1,2,3, and 4 instead of silk, light, etc. I could try to exchange it at a local store. Oh well, I'll make it work. It's a stretch EW capilene shirt so I actually thought it might be a little small. I have a short sleeve XXL capilene shirt from my fast food days and I think it's smaller than the XL I just got. If I wear another capilene shirt underneath, it's not so bad. I guess I'll only be wearing heavyweight when it's cold anyway.
