Kerry lost most of the left when he abdicated leadership and voted to trust this President to decide whether or not to invade Iraq. I sent him emails and went to his office to mouth off at his flack catcher about the vote.

As unimpressed as I am by Kerry, I think making such hay out of his dumb remark was ridiculous. He didn't say that everyone fighting in Iraq was stuck there, he was just taking a jab at the President and Iraq policy without thinking through the implications.

If troop morale is affected by such a remark, it is far more wounded by the wide broadcast of the remark aired by Bushes buddies than by Kerry's saying it.

How weird that it should be such a distraction from critical issues. The Bush boys don't have many cards to play, but they played this one very well indeed.”

“OMG - I just saw the video of Kerry's remarks, including the preceding sentences (on TV on the McLaughlin Group). It is very clear to me that he was saying Bush was stuck in Iraq because he didn't do his homework.

Kerry - who has not earned people's trust will never get the truth out, but it is plain to see. I also heard that the prepared text was out and it supports Kerry's version.

Selfishly, I won't be bothered by how quickly the attack machine nailed and distorted this if it keeps Kerry from getting the Democratic nomination - but to the extent that it helps any far right Republican candidates - yuch.
