I am trying not to eat stuff like that and my husband wont eat it so I would rather give it to someone who would.” 2:12:52 PM 4/17/07 “LOL! i know they will help you with your diet in this regard... ;) thank you. i know they will be totally thrilled.” 2:18:38 PM 4/17/07 HEY MEANGREEN!!! “HEY MEANGREEN!!! don't forget my jacket!!!” 2:28:49 PM 4/17/07 “How cool of a dad are you? You're kids get to experience nature, booze, and porn all at once!” 2:34:08 PM 4/17/07 “we REALLY want to take our 10 month old on this trip and the weather is looking perfect for that but plans have already been set up for grandma to watch him and i just can't bring myself to take that away from her” 2:38:15 PM 4/17/07 “that's starting 'em young! lol jk” 2:43:27 PM 4/17/07 “i'll be in fri say 5ish. we b hikin! yo bear” 2:43:31 PM 4/17/07 “better they gain exposure to this stuff (well some of it) under my supervision around my friends and other people i trust than the alternatives. they are good boys and i trust their character. most boys and girls raised in the 'burbs are basically stunted like a plant grown in the dark. i am a scoutleader and i have firsthand experience with this. my one regret is that i can't take my daughter with me, but i promised her a 1:1 backpacking trip next month... she seemed to be very pleased with this offer. i gave my youngest some starter gear (he is 8) and man did his eyes light up with i gave him the alcohol stove cookset. that kid will start out lighter than most people do after backpacking 10 years. lots of supervision here but the experience of doing this at 8 will prove invaluable. imagine starting to practice this stuff when you were 8 and where you would be today? my oldest son has a pocket rocket and MSR titan kettle. he got it for his birthday. i have been sneaking in good gear for birthdays. also, i am starting them off on ridgerests and not inflatable pads... i find that kids can sleep anywhere, unlike their old man. i learned how to sleep on closed-cell foam but it took me forever once i got hooked on an inflatable pad. they want to share a tent so they will sleep in a two-person virga tarptent carried by my oldest. dad will be cowboy camping as usual with a tarp option. i am giving my oldest a set of trekking poles for this trip (he doesn't know this yet) and my goal is to teach him how to properly use them among other things. i expect many trips, falls, and other forms of damage. last edited: 4/17/07 2:44:53 PM” 2:43:52 PM 4/17/07 “He he he...Then he can teach me how to use them properly.” 2:48:16 PM 4/17/07 “good god, jimmy's kids are gonna be geared up better than me...you up for adopting another one?” 2:52:31 PM 4/17/07 “Good one Thrifty!” 3:04:27 PM 4/17/07 “I am going to be on this trip and W.Knee knows whats going to happen to him.I told him at Rubys hitch-up. He is going to be.................Just ask him. He heheheheheheh........8))))” 3:59:23 PM 4/17/07 “I am wearing 2 pair of underware” 4:10:44 PM 4/17/07 “And he goes for the one handed throw!!!!! 8)” 4:13:18 PM 4/17/07 “Are you going to throw me into the sand cave?” 4:25:24 PM 4/17/07 WK is very, very popular!!! “Gee Whiz!!! I turn my back for a couple hours and everyone is talking about my pole. Y'all are just jealous of what I can accomplish with one natural "big stick" when it takes most hikers out there two manufactured poles to get half that much done! BTW if someone has an extra kilt I'd wear it. 34 - 36 waist I'll take request on weather it is worn "regiment" or not. ;-)” 8:14:37 PM 4/17/07 “hey dork, don't forget my jacket” 6:51:03 AM 4/18/07 “someone-anyone-bring the man a kilt!” 7:11:33 AM 4/18/07 “...and my jacket ;)” 7:33:23 AM 4/18/07 “Yea! Whatever works for you. I will buy a couple of bundles of wood to use at both the party sites (72,73) and one for the sleeping site (That’s the site your gonna pick out) I have updated my email address on my profile, so you can send for my cell number if that works for you See ya later. Randall” 11:10:39 AM 4/18/07 Randall “you've got mail if i leave a note it will say, "Our camp site is over yonder"...gotta stick with the theme” 11:26:00 AM 4/18/07 “dont forget my tie tack” 11:39:56 AM 4/18/07 “do you know how to tie a tie?” 12:04:28 PM 4/18/07 “Yea thrifty, they're good for attatching jackets to packs! :-)” 12:25:44 PM 4/18/07 Hey Stomper!!! “Stomper, You got mail!!! Mohaaaaaa! Randal sleep! Ha we want to talk to this wife of yours. Haaaaaaa! Yea U@ TH. Better bribe me with choclate! Ye ha, we b hikin!” 4:28:43 PM 4/18/07 JerBear!!! “JB!! I got a prototype of that stove that Coyote had at The Adena Trace Shamrock thing. I found the aluminum bottles at bar here Saturday night and put it together Sunday AM. The thing is much easier to make than the Pop Can stove and works real well. I will bring it so you can see. The bottles are the hard thing to find, as they are commemorative sport Budlight bottles. I paid $3.50 for one (That was with the beer in it) The aluminum in them is much higher quality than your standard pop can and can be formed easily with out tearing. You seal the two together by roll forming the top. I used a pair of pliers to do this and it looks homemade. I think a tool can be made to do that operation much better. I will be working on the design for that later on See ya later. Randall” 4:56:19 PM 4/18/07 “Hey I just remembered I'll get to show off this spiffy green jacket I just found lying around about a month ago...” 7:53:53 PM 4/18/07 “Yes Randall and Thrifty. Now to get some rest, pack and I'm ready to go!!!” 7:23:43 AM 4/19/07 “"BTW if someone has an extra kilt I'd wear it. 34 - 36 waist I'll take request on weather it is worn "regiment" or not. ;-)" ~ meangreen I have an extra, but it's too big for me so it would definitely be too big for you, beanpole. ;) Plus, it's a girl's kilt. I do get to break in my new kilt this weekend, however. :) It's going to get a lot of use this year.” 7:30:56 AM 4/19/07 “ ![]() i hope these guys are there, they look like nice people” 7:53:41 AM 4/19/07 “hey, WK, not meaning to play monday (or thursday as it were) morning quarterback but did anyone think about, or check into the group sites? The group sites are on the other side of the river, so you need the ferry to cross. For those coming late, they will not be able to get across.
