And here's some history for you: A number of key conservatives of the 50s and 60s started out as Communists who supported Trotsky and gradually moved away from all varieties of communism. The first one who comes to mind is James Burnham, a communist who sided with Trotsky, but then moved to the right. He received a medal of freedom from Reagan. But a number of neo-con heroes moved with Burnham and Shactman out of the Trotskyite left and into the right.)

HPM...you know I wonder how many have truly read about the loving Soviet conquest of Russia? Granted if they read the Pulitzer Prize Winning NY TIMES reporting it is a Potemkin Village scene...but I think it was something like 30 million or more dead. Very frightening. I still say the bloodless coup in 1989 really left alot of the KGB and old NKVD crowd (I know the NKVD was absorbed by the KGB but believe me the terror side still lived) is still in evidence.
