We're going on a trip next spring and have been searching for cheap tickets for a few months. I'm not going to name names but someone* booked a flight with an arrival time 12 hours later than we needed to stick with our itinerary through an online travel site called CheapOair.com
They* immediately called cheapo air and tried to reschedule (we're talking within 5 minutes), and was told there would be a fee almost equivalent to the ticket price!! The person was somewhere in India or Pakistan and was extremely difficult to communicate with. In frustration the person* hung up, bought another wrong ticket and resigned themselves* to driving through the night to reach our destination on time to begin our hike.

This morning I called the airline, Frontier Air, based in Denver. I spoke to an American, who had hiked where we are going, understood the time constraints, and really wanted us to get there and experience the place. He changed our flights to ones arriving at the correct time, waived the $100 fee, per ticket and charged us only $21 each....the difference in flight cost.

I just can't say enough about Frontier Airlines travel agents. Next time I will definately go right to the source instead of messing around with Priceline, Cheaptickets, Expedia and CheapO air. All of those companies have outsourced to India and Frontier's prices are about the same after the "fees" are added at the other sites. The customer service was simply outstanding.

Lyra, I'd have to kill you if I told you. Lets just say it's a large, rather deep place and it's far away from Michigan.

Frontier flies out west primarily. They have great specials like a free all day lift ticket at Copper Mtn if you fly into Denver, etc. I think those lift tickets are up to something like $70 a day now. Last time I skied there it was more than ten years ago and it was $55.

Frontier is highly rated in Colorado. You can see why. Plus they have great commercials!

My family flew to CA and back on Frontier in September. Good price and good job. One of the Airbus planes was old and creaky but one was brand new - hadn't picked a name for the bird on the tail yet.

Good to know Sass. I nbever win raffles but at a brewfest in town, I bought $5 worth of raffle tixkets and won two round-trip anywhere in the U.S. plane tix on Frontier (they do fly all over the US, I believe). Plan on taking a trip to D.C. in the spring...

The only problem with Frontier is that Denver is their only hub, so you can't really get a non-stop flight (unless you're in Denver) so if you want to fly from Atlanta to New York on Frontier, for instance, you'd have to fly all the way out through Denver. So it only makes sense to fly them from West Coast to East Coast or vice versa.

I don't fly Frontier but I am happy that they're here, It means I can fly anywhere on United cheap, since Frontier (and now Southwest) drive down the fares for flights out of Denver on all of the airlines.

Hmmm, are we East Coast here in Michigan? We do have alot of coast. We get to stop in Minneapolis and then go right to where we need to be. No stops in Denver. Maybe it's just for the southern states or something.

I am sure we'll get routed through Denver on our way out east...

I flew Spirit Air this summer. It was also very nice. The plane was new. The seats were comfortable. And 1st class was only $50 more expensive than economy.

But I do have to say that I've had good experiences with Northwest as well.

hmmmm... did you get booked through with one of their codeshare partners (like airtran) the only place they show that they fly from Minneapolis on Frontier is Denver. But what could have happened is part of your itinerary is on Frontier, so you book through them, but the rest of your itinerary is on Horizon, or Airtran(eeek, I'd pay 100 dollars extra if it meant not flying Airtran).

Nope, it's all Frontier. The agent even assured me we'd have no trouble getting our connecting flight because all Frontier's flights are in the same wing.

RL, I'm mostly speaking about the customer service. Spirit has been good in the past but Northwest is a cold hearted bastard of an airline.
