moving to tn... “need to know about places to avoid... already know about western Tn , wouldn't go there for anything... looking for peace, quiet , no nonsense type of area to settle in ... thanks...” 7:32:36 PM 12/01/06 “Middle TN nashville has a great mix of City/Country/Nature. Has an REI, and 3 or 4 other outdoor backpacking stores, symphony, art, good food, cheap gas. I live in Murfreesboro, it is a great town away from town and only 45 minutes from the plateu, and 30 from Nashville, cost of living-low quality of life-great. Knoxville is really resurging as a cosmopolitan city as is Chattanooga. last edited: 12/02/06 1:30:22 AM” 1:28:46 AM 12/02/06 “We are moving to North Hammilton county (Chattanooga area) very soon. Beautiful place with hiking, whitewater and other thrills all nearby.” 4:33:25 AM 12/02/06 “I live in Townsend which is quiet and nestled up next to the Smokies. However, I would not rule out anything from here to Roan Mountain. I am not overly thrilled with Cosby, but Hartford and Eastern Greene County are very nice. Knoxville has the right mix of culture for me. The Tri Cities are the right size places to find whatever you need, yet open enough that you don't get caught in endless traffic. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. If you want a quaint little town, then look at Rogersville or Jonesborough. If you want remote, quiet mountain life, then look at anything north or east of Newport. If you want Cosmopolitan, then you need to look at Tri Cities or Knoxville. If you want more economical acerage, then I would say the absolute best bet is in Morgan or Scott Counties. They have the Cumberland Mts, yet they don't have the commercial resort development. If I could move anywhere in East TN where cost or distance was not a factor, I think I would make the move to Cumberland Gap, TN. Middlesboro, KY is just through the tunnel and is large enough to offer almost anything. Knoxville is only an hour and a half away, and the Mountains are at the doorstep. In time, Townsend will become a tourist/resort trap like what happened on the other side of the Mountain in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. When that happens, I will move, probably to Hartford.” 8:08:55 AM 12/02/06
