I'm flying up to the Hoosier Hiking trip the 15th.

Anyone want Tyvek? I can bring a few pieces with me.

It's 9 feet wide by whatever lenght you might want. I'll have to ask for $1.50 a running foot (what it cost me). No shipping if I give it to you at the trailhead.

Example: Most two person tents are around five feet wide, so you would need five times $1.50 = $7.50 for a 5 X 9 foot piece. Trim off any excess for a custom tent footprint.

Count me in. I guess I'll take 10 feet. That should handle my (your old) tent; right? I can't remember the dimensions. I'll pay you at the trailhead.

Ruby, you only need about five feet if all you need is it to go under the tent body.
That's 5 x 9 feet.

Now if you want it to cover under the fly area, 9 x 9 sounds about right. You will have to trim the corners off or fold under.

I think, under nine or ten feet will fit into a Priority Mail box for whatever that standard charge is now. $7, $8????

Any more than about that will knock it up from the 1 # charge to the 2# charge.

Kinda sucks that the shipping costs so much.

I can't get into eBay right now at work, but I know there is a guy that sells it there and you could see what length footage cutoff will ship in a 1# box.

SC, I'll tell you where the best place to buy beer is in Porter County. It's a little place called Pat's Liquors on Rt. 20. Lots of specialty and microbrews. And if they don't have what you're looking for, they will order it. Also, they are real close to the dunes. =D

It be neely ten feets

I cuts it like you wants
I cuts you like I wants
It be th' good wrap
Or I bust you wid a cap!

Chorus:
Yo yo yo yozzle
You like my pro posal?
Yo yo yo yozzle
You be at my dis posal!

2)Come down to Mississippi
But don't be no hippie
Come way on down Souf
I bust you in th' mouf

I had a concert at the 'rena
But we had the K-trina
So now I jest a'nutha rapper
With lyrics fit-not for yon crapper

(Repeat chorus)

Tyvek is pretty cool stuff, we have the envelopes at Office Depot. So I'm guessing lightweight. Do you use it as a footprint or a tarp or something else? How much are you selling it for?

I noticed the website says that Tyvek is better as a ground cloth, because a water proof ground cloth traps rain water between the tent and ground cloth.

I guess it could if you don't know what you are doing. It has never happened to me.

I have been in a lot of rain that became floods. Never happened. I understand a little about hydrology...rain flow downhill. I also know that you can't put your ground cloth outside the footprint of your tent.

Location, location, location is the key to staying dry.

A place to buy tyvek
If you go on ebay and look for the seller campcovers he sells tyvek by the piece or by the foot and gives away free anchoring hardware, so your tyvek does'nt blow around
