Roam Around is coming to PA!
this is all in the works and far out into the future, but might as well get the planning wheels aspinning now.

We're going to hike the 43 mile loop in 4 days. Probably Saturday, March 24 through Tuesday, March 27th.

Who is this Gem person?

You'll love the BFT. It's my favorite trail in Pa and I never get tired of it. 4 days will be good, especially if we actually have a winter.

yeah, the Black Forest Trail is awesome. I knew it was a special trail with in my initial steps. I loved every step of the trail, even the agonizing ones. The hardest climb for me was the one into Foster Hollow, where we camped the one night, but I loved it.

Ladies (if Spindlette and/or Gemini come) and Gentlemen, clear the calendar! I actually have yet to do the Black Forest Trail -- as if this trip really needed any more reasons for me to go...

in May we hiked the BFT in three days and it was fairly brutal. This time we'll do it in 4 days. The Black Forest Trail is a good 4 day hike.

He still talks about that hike. Still shudders a bit too.

I bet he'd go if it's a 4 day trip.

PhantomSoul! Hi. Were your ears burning last weekend? LMG and I were talking about you. ;)

Spindlette, did you do the "brutal" hike with these boneheads?

If so, you are hardcore, no?

MarkO, you'll like this hike.

MarkO

4 days will be challenging, but not brutal. Mileage will be around 10-13 each day. The nice thing about the BFT is you get some flat stetches to rest in between the climbs and descents and plus there are lots of views that allow for breaks.
EarthNsky
7:25:40 PM
12/06/06

oh and another nice thing about the BFT is the cutoff and shortcut options.

Pennsy always talks of a big TT BFT get together a few years back where basically, three or four groups hiked different itineraries on the trail and were still able to camp in the same spots. Not many trails can boast that kind of system.

With the short cut options, one can skip a climb or descent, shorten their distance and still be able to meet back up with the group.

Heck no. Not much into bonehead masochism. ;) This one is quite do-able in 4 days. 2 or 3 days, no thank you.:)

Would there be a Gimpy Geezer possibility here? I have never done the BFT and would love to get a taste of it. The other problem for me is I may be starting a new position next year which could seriously impact my flexibility and availability especially on a Sunday so I would need to be able to find people.
