I listened attentivly, and respectfully (granted I am sure if the tables were turned it would be much different). But then I find I am RESPONSIBLE for showing respect to a guest even if they are a blithering twit.

Now during the question and answer period is where I ask probing hard questions. This is where you respectfully make your displeasure known. The problem is most college kids today are so full of information they only have to regurgitate without comprehension they cannot logically debate the real problem. Their teacher have taught them to EMOTE on command....”

It is not about the content of the speech Bear. A group on campus asked this group to come and speak and they should be allowed to do so without this type of thing going on. Just because someone is saying something we don't like it does not justify ill behavior.

They spoke for 45 minutes."...before they stormed the stage that is. Hannity kept cutting her off to get straight answers and she starts on this tirade about how he won't let her speak. Gee. “Using vigilante tactics to oppose someone whom you condemn as a vigalante crosses the line from ironic to hypocritical. Universities should be a place where all kinds of ideas can be discussed intelligently.

There are lots of other ways to challenge a speaker whose actions or ideas you are hostile towards.

1) Hold signs at the speech?
2) Ask tough questions at the Q & A.
3) Hold and publicize an event to express a contrary view.
4) Picket and hand out fliers outside the event.
5) Write Op-eds for the local paper.
6) Challenge the speaker to a debate, or organize one yourself.

If all those avenues are closed to you, then go ahead and storm the stage or whatever.

My college is in the process of developing a "Freedom of Speech" zone on campus. This new policy, once approved (which it will) will give all students the freedom to express any opinion they wish in a public forum, in ten minute blocks of time.

In the past, only groups of 6 or more students could apply to be recognized as an "organization". Once this requirement was fulfilled, they could pull permits for campus space (ranging from auditoriums to outdoor areas) in which to hold meetings, inform other students of their cause, protest, etc. Any person, or group, that did not follow this procedure could be punished.

This was in response to a group of Pali students who protested the recent action between the Israelis and the Hezzies. The group had fulfilled more than enough of the criteria to qualify as an organization, but the college didn't grant them status for what ever reason (which was never made clear to the students, or the public).

Wayne is in the heart of Detroit. This new change to policy should be interesting.”

“Vile, I have a young friend who is in his second year at a Major university (noted for liberal attitudes). He has one professor who went way out of his way to declare "free speech zone" in the class. Every kid could say what they want....here is the kicker, as LONG AS THE PROFESSOR AGREED.
So my young friend began factually and logically debating the half truths and out and out lies of the professor and his CHOSEN few.

Want to guess what the ADULT professor did in response?
Bear it is not the KIDS their age or what not, it is the environment where disregard for other people is supported and encouraged by the liberal ivy covered academics. I went through it in Graduate School I had one professor in "Urban Problems" who pushed his brand of thinking. For one week we watched "Do the Right Thing" by Spike Lee. He gave his views on the various problems; how the young males felt about the Yuppies moving into THEIR HOOD, about the causes that led to the burning of the sole white resturant (Italian).
Then on Friday we had our chance to ask questions. When the questioning came around to me I was quite brief,"Throughout this class we have been taught to look at BOTH sides of the issue. To understand all points of view. Doctor, I wonder what you would be saying if this had been a film about say a White Italian Neighborhood. And they were having the same bigoted view of the first upwardly mobile Black family moving in...or if in their moment of "expressing their anger" they had burned the only resturant, a black Fried Chicken hut?"
THE CLASS WENT DEAD QUIET. The professor looked up and said, "Interesting, next question." (he totally dodged the real hard question by using his position as a Professor).

Oh yeah...he does not show that movie anymore. Apparently he feels it is not as good as he once thought it was. But that is the problem with the Liberal Mindset, its like the spoiled little kid who wants to change the rules of TAG or touch football each time he has the ball.

If the Professor from that school went to say a business meeting to BEG MONEY. And the people started screaming at him, throwing stuff at him, you can BET he would (with media support and the American Criminal Leadership Union) file a lawsuit.

This is the duplicity and outright hypocrisy that epitomizes the Liberal side of the aisle.”

CHICAGO — The names of people infected with HIV will be tracked in all 50 states by the end of 2007, marking a victory for federal health officials and a quiet defeat for AIDS advocates who wanted to keep patients’ names out of state databases.

Vermont, Maryland and Hawaii, the last states not tracking the names of HIV-positive people, are quickly moving toward adopting names-based surveillance. Washington, D.C. and eight other states, including Montana, Washington and Oregon, began collecting the names of HIV patients last year. Massachusetts switched in January.

Don't know how many of you are aware of the Ryan White Act. But it provides protection for emergency responders who come in contact with an AIDS or HIV patient. A few weeks ago I had to advise a young firefighter/EMT to file. He had gone on a particularly greusome wreck. Patient conscious and bleeding like a stuck pig and drunker than snot. In the 30 minutes they extricated him he never ONCE mentioned it. Even when questioned about any illnesses he might have (for treatment purposes). He told us about a bad back, and some stomach problems. But the "I have HIV" never came out.

He had a legitimate exposure while treating the patient. He is 22, has a wife and a small child. Now I know that HIV is not near as easily transferred as Hep B but try telling his wife and kids this.”

The ethnic fingerprinting drive is part of a broader crackdown on Italy's three-and-a-half million migrants, most of them legal, carried out in an atmosphere of increasingly hysterical rhetoric about crime and security. But the reviled Roma, some of whose families have been in Italy since the middle ages, are taking the brunt of it. The aim is to close 700 Roma squatter camps and force their inhabitants out of the cities or the country. In the same week as Maroni was defending his racial registration plans in parliament, Italy's highest appeal court ruled that it was acceptable to discriminate against Roma on the grounds that "all Gypsies were thieves", rather than because of their "Gypsy nature".
