Paridise Valley backpack? CAView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 4 of 4 messages posted.
“While mike and I are in CA, he wants to see some "big trees" and "mountain views" so I was thinking we could do an over nighter in Kings canyon somewhere. I have never backpacked there and would like to hear your recomendations..... We will do this after spening a week or so exploring the TRT. I can't find much web info about backpacking trails there except for one, Paridise Valley which looks very nice!!! If any of you kind wonderfull pretty california folks would like to help me out with suggestions, let me know!” 9:09:53 AM 12/08/06 “Have another thought for you. First, I'm "assuming" you're coming here to Sac, so I was thinking about drive-time. You'll see mountains all aong the TRT, of course, but you can also just take a short drive from here down to Big Basin Redwoods SP, only takes about 3-4 hours depending on how crazy you drive. If you haven't been there, real easy hikes (compared to the mountains!), but very pretty trail going through the trees! At the park hdqtrs they have this huge cross-section of one of the trees with little push-pins designating when historical events that happened during the life of the tree...when Columbus landed in America, etc., pretty cool! After you hike down through the trees you can jump in the ocean at Waddel Beach - CMB might like that! last edited: 12/08/06 9:44:40 AM” 9:43:09 AM 12/08/06 “When are you coming? That area is rapidly filling up with snow and not easily accessible...” 10:06:14 AM 12/08/06 “wanderer can you backpack there? Mike doesnt swim so he wouldnt jump in the ocean like I would lol! I have always wanted to backpack in Kings Canyon which is why we are considering it and just spend a day of rest dayhiking around the big tree groves before hitting the backpack trail.” 12:12:38 PM 12/08/06
