“For my garden, I want a sasafrass plant, does anyone have any extras in their yards/woods? I've always wanted one and cant find one at the nurseries :( I would be more then willing to pay postage....” 2:36:03 PM 12/13/06 “according to ruby a sassafrass should now be called doof, or mayb poof...i'm not sure” 2:54:36 PM 12/13/06 “sassafroof I think was the word mentioned” 2:57:00 PM 12/13/06 “it's a tree, isn't it? i am pretty sure it can grow in the midwest. here is one 4 sale on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Sassafras-Tree-2-4-ft-1-2-yr-old_W0QQitemZ7729118197QQcmdZViewItem” 3:03:23 PM 12/13/06 “i have one, but if i gave it to you it'd cut the number of trees in my yard by half” 3:22:55 PM 12/13/06 “Those things are weeds around here. A bunch keep coming up from the roots of one I cut down a couple of years ago.” 3:27:47 PM 12/13/06 “yeh, i've been thinking about cutting mine down before it matures and start reproducing” 3:33:49 PM 12/13/06 “I'd more than happy to try to mail a few to you next spring/summer if you can remember to remind me (and they come back).” 3:38:11 PM 12/13/06 “Sassafras trees spread by suckers more than they do seeds. They're good for erosion prone areas too.” 3:38:11 PM 12/13/06 “the root makes a good tea - sposed to have some health benefits.” 3:52:21 PM 12/13/06 “me too, but i dont think birch is sharing!” 3:55:44 PM 12/13/06 “Sort of what I was thinking, only mine was more like this: You want a Sassafrass? Just be happy with the one God gave you"” 5:14:47 PM 12/13/06 “What is this doof business?! We have a nature trail near our house called sassafras trails. As a kid we took field trips there from elementary school. They used to give us pieces of sassafras root to scrub our teeth with and chew on and talked about how tea was made, etc. Then one trip they stopped because sassafras was all the sudden a carcinogen! I don't know the truth one way or the other but you may want to look into it if you drink a lot of sassafras tea, etc. I want a sassafras tree too, along with a birch. Aren't I a corndog?” 7:40:57 PM 12/13/06 “I took a look around the internet and found that the stuff in tea and supplimens is treatedwith something to counter act the carcinogen. So, homegrown sassafras does indeed have the potential to cause cancer (along with everything else in this world).” 7:21:30 AM 12/14/06 “I think if you drink like 100 gallons, you're supposed to catch a buzz too.” 7:59:46 AM 12/14/06 “Yeah, I never got to try sassafras tea when I was little, b/c my mom said it was a carcinogen, and would give me a buzz! What a stick in the mud. LOL! I loooove the smell of sassafras leaves, mmm!!” 8:30:15 AM 12/14/06 let me go on record “I want a sasafrass too.” 8:40:23 AM 12/14/06 “I do not have any of that; however, in Spring I will have some extra bamboo plant to give away.” 9:29:01 AM 12/14/06 “It was kinda fun sending bits and pieces of plants all over to TTers. I have Iris' and daylillies from two different TTers. We should do that again next spring.” 1:14:32 PM 12/14/06 “I might be able to have something to go around. I just split up my purple iris this fall, but I have a hummingbird annual that really comes back nice and some hollyhock.” 1:17:02 PM 12/14/06 “I helped build a house where the basement excavation cut through the roots of an unusually large sassy. The aroma of rootbeer was a continuous treat for the nostrage.” 1:29:10 PM 12/14/06 “Cool Q. Let's try and remember to bring it up again come spring.” 3:37:27 PM 12/14/06 “This Christmas season I just want a little Joy. Sorry Sassafras - I just had to do it.” 3:51:35 PM 12/14/06 “A buzz can be had in easier ways . . . ;)” 3:54:24 PM 12/14/06
