I want a sasafrass

“For my garden, I want a sasafrass plant, does anyone have any extras in their yards/woods? I've always wanted one and cant find one at the nurseries :(

We have a nature trail near our house called sassafras trails. As a kid we took field trips there from elementary school. They used to give us pieces of sassafras root to scrub our teeth with and chew on and talked about how tea was made, etc. Then one trip they stopped because sassafras was all the sudden a carcinogen! I don't know the truth one way or the other but you may want to look into it if you drink a lot of sassafras tea, etc.

“I took a look around the internet and found that the stuff in tea and supplimens is treatedwith something to counter act the carcinogen. So, homegrown sassafras does indeed have the potential to cause cancer (along with everything else in this world).”
