The Mighty Mighty Tacoma Turns A Quarter -Million!View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 31 of 31 messages posted.
“Wowser. 250,000 miles on the ol gal, Tiffany. I got her new in the fall of '97. She's a '98. She's been to every state but the far lefties, AK, and HI. She'll see them soon enough, methinks. (Gizmeaux and I are currently working on an aquatic propulsion system, btw). There's a good chance that she's been to your county, or at least one adjacent to yours. One of my first trips in her was to St. Marys, GA, from whence I would disembark for Cumberland Island. I was wyling away the eve of my boarding The Cumberland Queen in a little tavern adjacent to the NPS wharf. I had made some friends and the beers were coming and going almost nonstop. One of my new drinking buddies approached arm-in-arm with a young Black man. He introduced us, and informed me that my now new friend had received the Divine gift of naming automobiles. I forget his name (I forget everybody's name), but being schooled in the field of Trade and Industry Education, I was quick to discern that the young and extremely happy friend was a bit slow - pond water's velocity comes to mind. He was sweet. He was straight forward and naive and innocent. After a series of pertenant questions - hard hitting and ungray questions, necessary, I suppose, to insure a name most appropriate for each and every vehicle to which he would bestow a moniker for perpetuity - he withdrew to the backrest of his barstool and began rubbing his chin between his thumb and the length of his curved forefinger. "Tiffany" he said. "Tiffany. That's a great name" I said. I lofted my beer, he lofted his Coke. Everyone else lofted everything else. "Tiffany!" I shouted. "Tiffany!" shouted back the joyous and juiced chorale. It was a great opportunity for another round - Cokes and all.” 4:49:04 PM 12/13/06 “Oh yeah, in case you're wondering, I'm fixin' to head out for hot wings and cold beers in celebration of this momentous occasion...” 4:53:02 PM 12/13/06 “Oooooo. I haven't had a beer for months! This'll be schweet!!!” 4:56:50 PM 12/13/06 “ya know, the tacoma was a traitor......” 4:59:45 PM 12/13/06 “Bull -loney! I wouldn't trade her for anything!” 5:02:40 PM 12/13/06 “youre all right, gojo. i dont care what the little man on my shoulder whispering into my ear says” 5:05:02 PM 12/13/06 “Awwww, you gots a wittle Gishmo too?” 5:08:35 PM 12/13/06 “I have a '98 Tacoma as well, but only 168K miles. It's been paid off for awhile and see no reason to buy something else. Truly a great vehicle. Robert E. Lee, however, still sucks:)” 5:10:20 PM 12/13/06 “That's "Bobby Lee" to you. Now, skidaddle! :)” 5:13:17 PM 12/13/06 “Gojo!! When is 'Tiffany' coming back to PA? :)” 5:35:24 PM 12/13/06 “Wow, all that time... and I never knew "it" was a "she" and "she" was "Tiffany!??!!?" >8-)” 6:24:08 PM 12/13/06 “where'd you go for wings?” 7:48:33 PM 12/13/06 “man I am glad to read this...I bought a Tacoma this summer...great truck!” 8:25:14 PM 12/13/06 “i saw a tv show once that said the original toyota pickups have more combined miles on them then any other brand in the world i also saw some british show, on TLC i think, that they put a toyota pickup through all kinds of tests...they put it on top of a 20ish story building and blew the building up, they let is set completely submerged in the ocean for 48 hours, and a few other things i can't remember...then they let a mechanic have at it with only a screw driver, adjustable wrench and a hammer...he was able to get it started every time” 7:01:01 AM 12/14/06 “Yes, I did all those things last Saturday night after a trip to the Hole in the Wall. It's still ticking!” 10:01:01 AM 12/14/06 “Okee dokee fenokee folkee, Whereas, On this Day, Northbound along The Great State of Georgia Highway Numbered 81, at Milemarker 16 of same and in the County of Henry, and at the Time known to be 9:42 O'clock, Ante Meridian, Eastern Standard Time, a one Pickup Truck, hereafter referred to as Tiffany, The Mighty Mighty Tacoma, manufactured in The Year Of Our Lord, Allah, Jehova, et al, One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety Seven, by the Worthy and Capable Hands, Machines, and various Robotic Gizmos of The Toyota Corporation of Automotive Conveyences and Chopstick Repair, Did, as Witnessed and Sworn by the Paw Printers of the Affidavit Attached hereto, Display, Once and For One Mile, Upon the Six Wheels of Her Supplied, Calibrated, and Oft Inspected by Officials of Such Things Odometer, various Digits Arrayed in the Sequence "Two, Five, Zero, Zero, Zero, Zero" (2-5-0-0-0-0), Indicating to Sole Owner, as Expressly Recommended by the Manufacturer in it's Publication Titled "Owners Manual", that this Day would be a Great and Grand Opportunity for said Owner, or thereby Appointed Agent, to Check the Oil. 14 December, 2006 AD.” 1:05:35 PM 12/14/06 “i think you might have an exhaust leak” 1:33:41 PM 12/14/06 “*ack*ack*ACK!” 1:44:39 PM 12/14/06 “I am curious as to why a Japanese car company named a pickup after a grungy, smelly, crime ridden city in Washington State that I fondly cally "Tacky-oma" LOL! It is nice to have dependable vehicle, so Cheers to Tiffany *lifting glass*” 2:16:23 PM 12/14/06 “Happy (belated) birthday Tiffany! Wow. Ten years and a couple weeks ago I drove her home from the car lot. Poor gal. I'm really rough on a vehicle, and she doesn't look a day under 20.” 1:20:51 PM 12/10/07 “Another Tacoma owner here. Mines a 2002 prerunner with only 50K on the ticker.” 2:00:59 PM 12/10/07 “I'm hoping my little Yaris does as well as your truck gojo. I've only had it a year and a half and already have 53,000 miles on it and by the time the loan is paid off I should have about 250,000 on it. [fingers crossed]” 2:05:36 PM 12/10/07 “I am about 500 miles from 200K on the Yota Corolla Wagon. I haven't spent a dime on it other than a couple of tires in the past two years. It's starting to show. I think it's about done and am looking at a new car. But man, I drove that thing haaard....” 2:12:14 PM 12/10/07 “Just hit the 200k mark on my Tacoma a couple of weeks ago...bought it with 113k 4 years ago and never had a problem. Love that truck...here's to 100 more!” 3:47:17 PM 12/10/07 “In 1988 I bought a new Toyota Corolla GTS. About 3 months ago, my oldest step-son drove it to the junkyard.....with 365,000 miles on it. The engine still ran good, but everything else was falling apart. I loved that car!” 3:52:05 PM 12/10/07 “My Subaru Impreza (2002, bought on may 31 2001) now has just over 105 thousand miles on it. I love my car.” 4:28:03 PM 12/10/07 “Got a 2006 Tacoma...41K on the Odo....LOVE IT.” 6:59:53 AM 12/11/07 265,000 Miles (Chrysler Lebaron J body) “1989...a good year if'n ya ask me..... all of them mine but the first 65,000.... Bought the car for $500.00 Just put $1150.00 in repairs into it(Timing Belt / Fuel pump / Throttle Body & injector Cleaned)...then I ran it at 95 Miles an hour from Birmingham to Chattanooga.....growling like a tiger all the way..(or maybe it has an exhaust leak.....)” 7:11:39 AM 12/11/07 “That's some good economy from a car SuperT. If I didn't have to drive my car for work I'd get me a garage sale car to drive.” 11:50:32 AM 12/11/07 “I just went over 130k in my Saturn. To celebrate she got two new tires, brake pads and a radiator flush. If I've spent more than $2500 in maintenance (including monthly oil changes) I'd be really surprised. She could probably use new shocks and struts though . . .” 12:05:34 PM 12/11/07 “I have 85K on my truck and am about to take it to the shop for the first time I think. The rear driver side brake is sticking. I pulled up to a red light last night and thought I was on fire when I looked out my side mirror. I've had it for 4.5 years, and I'm hoping to drive it for at least 10. I just put tires on it and it looks good as new when it's clean.” 12:53:04 PM 12/11/07
