Snow in Tug Hill region??

“I actually have two questions.

1. - Is there snow in the Tug Hill (NY) region?

2. Where can I camp out? I wanted to drive up before Chrsitmas and find places to camp for return winter trips.

“The only snow I've heard about in northern New York has been in the ADK High Peaks with about 3 to 4 inches at about 3500' and higher. I'm not 100% about Tug Hill though.”

“Tug Hill is known for the ridiculous amounts of lake-effect snow it gets over the course of the winter. However, it's been really warm in the Northeast so far this year and there really isn't much snow anywhere (except maybe the tops of the higher mountains, as LZ said).

I know all the ski areas up in New England are complaining about one of the slowest starts to the ski season ever...”

“this mud rain crap is like one long drawn out spring. Here in central N.Y. we got our first and only snow last week and that is a distant memory, but I hear a little lake effect is in store for tommorrow. So the tug hill area may have some for a short time before the return of the mud rain crap.”

“I am resurrecting this thread. I imagine there is some snow now, and would like to tent it somewhere instead of paying for a hotel. Can you camp in the state forest? I'm contemplating a drive up on Friday (tomorrow). Nothing says crazy like last minute snow trips.”

“Only 16-20 is far better than the zero with cold rain we have here in Pittsburgh. This is my alst chance to get out until after New Years, so I am about to just get in the car and drive (tomorrow after work). I'd stay closer to Buffalo or along Lake Erie if I knew they had good snow. Can't seem to talk to anyone out tht way yet”
