Great pics Bobo! Dang, Kim looks real skeery holding that ice axe. Monkee dude better behave himself.

Hey ENS - What......does.........a............yellow.......light..............mean?

I had a great time this weekend. I "warmed up" by xc skiing in the Dacks Friday before heading down to the 'Skills. 5 below zero when I got there and an outright balmy 3 below when I left.

Hanging out in the Alamo Friday night was a lot of fun, even with the $14 pitchers of Old Capital. Yikes! Good beer but not THAT good. I'm still cracking up over the local gal's comment to Bobo: "You must be from Jerksville!" She must have seen one of the many "Bobo's a jerk" videos.

The bushwhacks to North Dome and Sherrell were a blast, and navigation was made easier as a large group ahead of us broke trail in the few inches of snow on the ground. The compass was taken out a few times though just in case these people were dorks. Running into a large group (12?) coming the other way between ND and Sherrell was kinda cool. We weren't exactly expecting company in the middle of no where. One of the hikers is an avid mt biker like moi and she's supposed to post here so I can give her some info on NJ mt biking. Hopefully, the nutcases here won't chase her away with the troll crap before I can respond to her.

It was too late to do Halcott so that left onlyone thing to do: Drive down to the Black Bear Inn for steaks and brews. Woohoo!

Sunday morning, a few people were under the weather a bit, so we decided to let the other peaks wait for another day. I felt ok in the morning but I now have a lousy cold so I'm glad we made that decision. Which one of you sick bastards gave it to me?

Marraman - it was good to meet you and I hope we weren't too frightening for you, and it was a blast hanging with the usual suspects.

I've got the crud too, in my head and chest (pssst... let's blame it on the Monkee!) although I think I got "cold shocked" Friday night, which has got me reeling.

Crystal Lake is Open?!! Hot-diggety-dawg! I mean, err... Brrrrr!!!!

Oh marraman..... come out, come out, wherever you are!!!!

I'm from Jerksville, LOL!
I can't say I've ever had a girl's girlfriend turn to me at a bar and say, "She just put makeup on, how does she look now"?

LMAO!

I missed that line. What a hoot!

I'm gonna get up to Crystal Lake this weekend as long as it's still open. I'd love to ski Sat, camp at World's End and ski again Sun, but I have to be home late Sat afternoon. I may get up early Sat to get there when they open cuz I would have to leave by 2.

I met up with ENS Friday afternoon and rolled into Black Bear campground to find Capn Bobo attempting to bribe the Caretaker with beer. A Brisk 3 deg. Friday night. Went to Brios for fine food and Damn expensive beer. I sorta obsessed on the beer price all weekend sorry guys.Beers around the stove to plan the next days hike along with your expected TT boneheadedness. Woke up to a Cockadoodle Doo Pennsy bright and early, I silently waited to hear someone throw something at him but alas. Got cars shuttled and on the trail. Its a cool bushwack because you can't really see NorthDome until your at the base of it and your like "Daaammmn" lots of cool rock formations and scrambling. Flurries all day on and off. On the way down Sherril there was a rock formation that was like a small Hedge maze. I'ts really cool. A nice gentle descent back to the road. Then back to camp and to the Black Bear.Folks, its worth the 20 mile drive. I had the Fried Chicken dinner. Back to camp for a great fire. Breakfast at Sues and on the road. Stopped for some Scenic Falls, to say hello to my 95 year old Grammom, and A fine meal at ENS's sisters.

Dr. Marraman......Paging Dr. Marraman

That was no bribe, OK maybe it was... Wow, you got a meal outta RobO's sister? Cockadoodle Pennsy, ruh-roh I smell a new trailname! LMAO!!!

Unfortunately, no skiing por moi this weekend, but the Selkirks are waxed and I'm still waiting and hoping for the muthuhload to fall!

I'm afraid you might be waiting a spell for the muthuhload. Next weekend (weekend before FYAO), I'm thinking about skiing 2 days at Cascade / Olympic Complex (ALL trails are open now), OR heading to the snow belt at Tug Hill. That's actually closer than the Dacks and so far they got 108" this year.

Anywho, back on topic - Just PENNSY will do, thank you very much, although I do like enjoy playing Rhode Island Red and rousting everybody up in the AM.

GM supports bacteria, eh? FUEGO!!

Jackstraws TR addendum:

You guys are the best. As some of yous may know I am seperated from my wife. The night we went to the Blackbear you may remember me asking to use a phone. What I didn't let on is that that that night was my Wedding aniversary. Its the first time in seventeen years I did not spend it with her. Needless to say that night was very difficult for me.
I cannot put in writing how much you all mean to me as friends.

That being said,

Is it me or is the chicken the same color as Pennsys Jacket.

Jackstraw - you can count on us, the trail is often a great healer. Campfire comraderie and the breaking of bread with friends in the beauty and simplicity of the outdoors is truly special. That being said, I feel honored that you chose to sleep in my tent. I was touched, uhm... I mean, I am touched!

Delayed response
Hi Everyone,
It was great for me when I got home Saturday night. Only 2 and a half hour ride, plus 15 minutes rest. I felt good Sunday except for my body which was sore as hell.

stopped in to Campmor's Friday afternoon and picked up new winter coat and pants. Big mistake. This is the best coat and winter pants I have ever owned. I was major over heated from being over dressed.

Thanks Jackstraw for hanging out with me when the old body was starting to stall.
I'll wait till the spring before doing another hike.

Quoting daLunartik:

"Trail: North Dome
Date Hiked: 1/28/2007

Conditions: Dusting of snow on the Devils Path (from Westkill Parking Area). Beautiful ice flows in the lower elevations of North Dome, with gradually increasing snow amount topping off around 3" on the summit.

Special Required Equipment: We used stabalicers for the added traction most of the trip, though it was definetly barebootable the whole way.

Comments: Saw 4 different Fox tracks on the way up, and an obscene amount of Snowshoe Rabbit tracks on the summit, plus flushed a few Grouse. Found a water bottle along the way, so Julie M., if yer looking for it, drop us a line on adkhigpeaks.com. Full, dtailed trail report on www.adkhighpeaks.com/fourms/

Harry, you're doing Panther again? You already got a winter bag on that peak.

Sure you don't want to snowshoe with us on saturday on the Loyalsock? Save you a few hours of driving. You could park your car at the other end and finish Saturday afternoon. Friday night you could camp at Worlds End State Park.
