Can you find that post Stovey or is it just in your imagination?” 1:22:34 PM 12/22/06 “I LUV wolfie!” 1:24:10 PM 12/22/06 “TNT, easy up on wolf. i really don't think she meant that no one cares. it is true that disasters and crisis bring out the best in a group. it doesn't mean that anyone in particular is a dickhead when in crisisless mode.” 1:28:23 PM 12/22/06 “Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen of here here on TT she is one of the better people here. It just appeared to me that most people on here didn't fit under her statement.” 2:15:50 PM 12/22/06 “"Forgiveness is freeing up and putting to better use the energy once consumed by holding grudges, harboring resentments, and nursing unhealed wounds. It is rediscovering the strengths we always had and relocating our limitless capacity to understand and accept other people and ourselves" Sidney and Suzanne Simon” 2:27:26 PM 12/22/06 “I'm consuming Macallan 12yr old and xmas cookies. I think I'm in Heaven” 2:31:15 PM 12/22/06 “"Q, Q, Q......you just don't get it....but that would require being tolerant and looking at something from another viewpoint." Nice attack, Stove. Hopefully, it will sway the good people here. I wish you luck in getting over this. It's obvious it has hurt you pretty deep; my wish is for a quick healing on this matter.” 2:32:33 PM 12/22/06 “For a minute I thought Bmag said he was consumating scotch and cookies. LOL!” 2:39:15 PM 12/22/06 “In all seriousness, I'm nice or mean to people on this board based on a number of elements and of what I know of them. Not everything has to do with whether I agree with them in general or not. I use my own judgment as to who I believe is genuine and who I think is not. I treat people with respect as a default, but am nowhere near above getting in the mud with them if they want to go there. I enjoy a good troll that gets me worked up. Bacpac and I had some galactic blowups on this board over things that I thought were personal and important. There are one or two other people on this board whom I might avoid on hiking trips just due to our inability to get along, but I probably would try to give them a chance in person first. I'm not sure I would be given the same chance, but that's something I can deal with. This message board is a funny thing. It has the capacity for outpourings of support and the sharing of joy in bad times and good. It also has the capacity for flat-out vile hatefulness. In general, I see more of the former than the latter when the chips are down. I like this place, and like the people here.” 4:59:57 PM 12/22/06 “*yawn* We aint through yet?” 5:25:01 PM 12/22/06 “I don't like the peaceful and friendly turn this thread is taking. Come on people this is TrailTalk, we have a tradition to uphold!! Quick someone say something really mean and nasty about someone else!! At least post some kind of funny picture or cartoon full of acerbic wit.” 8:16:18 PM 12/22/06 “acerbic wit? is that a pathetic attempt to impress people with your lofty vocabulary? whatta scmuck. and for those of you who looked up the word acerbic - pick up a book sometime, ya ignorant, illiterate, mouth breathers. and for those of you who still don't know what acerbic means but are just too dam lazy to look it up- i salute you. last edited: 12/22/06 8:32:53 PM” 8:29:25 PM 12/22/06 “Why is sacco so cantankerous?” 8:37:11 PM 12/22/06 “boobies?” 8:37:26 PM 12/22/06 “Thatta boy, sacco, now things are starting to look familiar!! Now it's my turn to come back with a stinging reply--wait for it, wait for it... Ahh, sorry, I got nothing. last edited: 12/22/06 8:37:51 PM” 8:37:36 PM 12/22/06 “stickman you incoherent snot sucker, certainly you can do better then that!” 8:40:58 PM 12/22/06 “you gotta problem with mouth breathers, sacco worms?” 10:18:59 PM 12/22/06 “Sacco has man-breasts.” 10:27:02 PM 12/22/06 “sorry, I'm feeling mellow after a couple of hours of skiing, homemade smoked steelhead with cream cheese on crackers and a Chilean rose of Melot and Cab Sav.” 10:45:18 PM 12/22/06 “One of my favorite hikes I ever took with a TTer was the first time I hiked with Tom (Budder) and Budder Dog. We met at Burr Oak Lake Trail trailhead. Budder Dog came bounding out of the Mystery Machine van and was all over me saying hello. LOL! I fell in love with him instantly as most people do. As Tom and I hiked we talked a lot about hiking and gear. Tom was so funny! He was talking about pack weight and he stops in the middle of the trail and looks all around as if someone may hear him and he says in a low voice, "I actually made a spread sheet that calculates all my weight automatically.". LOL! It was such a joy to hike with Budder Dog too because I love dogs and this was the first time I ever hiked with a dog. I learned so much from Tom and Budder and I carry those lessons to this day with Honey Dog. Tom may not realize this but I listened to every lesson he shared. For example, I never, EVER let Honey Dog out of the car on the driver's side because Tom shared a story of his friend who let his dog out on the driver's side where he hopped down right in the path of a car and was killed. One thing I learned on this trip was that some people deserve to be observed. What I mean is that I can watch someone in camp and tell that they know what the hell they're doing and they truly are as comfortable in the woods as anywhere else in the world. There are few people I've hiked with over the years that I can honestly say that they have this quality. So when I hike with someone who does display this level of competence I pay attention because I'm going to learn a lot from them. The first night we stopped and set up camp I was sipping a beer and offered Tom one and he politely refused. After about the third offer he says, "No, I don't wanna drink all your beer.". I said, "It's OK and poured the rest of the 12 pack I had carried out of my pack. He was a bit surprised I'd carry that much and gladly had some beer. I remember this hike like it was yesterday...” 7:01:36 AM 12/23/06 “Note to self: As soon as the leg heals, hike with nigal. Further note to self: Don't worry about drinking his last beer.” 7:13:01 AM 12/23/06 “hey Nigal, ?????????When you going on your next trip? I never turn down a beer ........” 7:19:24 AM 12/23/06 “I don't carry much beer now. Maybe just a couple. I carry whiskey now but I am always ready to share. Many times I'll even pick up a special bottle especially for sharing. Last time I had a chance to share I brought a bottle of 18 year old Glennlivet scotch.” 7:53:33 AM 12/23/06 “Addendum to note to self: Screw the healing part, just hike with nigal with the broken leg.” 7:58:42 AM 12/23/06 “Haha! Ya know, sometimes TTers don't have to hike to get together. I mean, Tennessee is only about 7 hours from me. [wink wink, nudge nudge]” 8:16:23 AM 12/23/06 “nigal, buddur and dog rocketh indeed. my wife's been on a couple trips since we met him and she always asks "is tom and buddur comin?" i don't if it is his john denver good looks or his story of saving buddur dog from that previous kunt owner that really won her over.” 8:40:16 AM 12/23/06 “P, CB, i assure you, my chest is worm and lactose free.” 8:42:42 AM 12/23/06 “Buddur man and dog rock!” 9:13:32 AM 12/23/06 “Kinda quiet on this thread. Is it a Christmas Truce? » British Captain R. J. Armes describing the 1914 Christmas truce in a letter home to his wife: » "I was in my dugout reading a paper and the mail was being dished out. It was reported that the Germans had lighted their trenches up all along the front. We had been calling to one another for some time Xmas wishes and other things. I went out and they shouted "no shooting" and then somehow the scene became a peaceful one. All our men got out of the trenches and sat on the parapet, the Germans did the same, and they talked to one another in English and broken English. I got on top of the trench and talked German and asked them to sing a German Volkslied (folk song), which they did, then our men sang quite well and each side clapped and cheered the other." From: Stanley Weintraub's "Silent Night: The Story of the World War I Christmas Truce."” 10:07:22 AM 12/23/06 “Just to add my two cents- I have had no reason to be mean to anyone on this board, even sarge, on my job as a firefighter this goes on all yhe time and I know most of it is just good natured ribbing.Having not to actually have met anyone here it has been hard to put into the perspective of the interplay of the personalities involved. Have a good holiday everyone, and I hope in this coming year to get to go on a trip to actually meet someone.” 12:55:08 PM 12/24/06 Jump to Page << prev
