I'm wanting to hike the Black Forest Trail sometime in the Spring, or early Summer. Looking at hiking the trail over four days, and need help with where to start, and places to camp along the way. Probably looking at doing around 10 miles each day.

Any ideas?

Please report to the "Roamin' Around the Black Forest Trail" thread. And bring your kilt.

no nono kilts are banned. Everyone is required to hike in a spaceman outfit or radiation suit.

LOL. Sounds like a fun hike. Unfortunately, I got rid of my spaceman outfit years ago. I did see your hike for March, but that's usually a busy time of work for me. I will keep it in mind though.

What's your plan for places to camp, and mileage?

no specific plans yet. I'd like to camp at Foster Hollow one of the nights and Somewhere along county Line Branch another night. I'm looking at the several campsites along Red Run. We're going to have a big group, so it's going to be interesting. Mileage each day will be 10-13. The last day could be a little shorter.

Spindlette,

No, I don't have any of the maps yet. Just starting to think of long hikes for 2007.

Slate Run is a good place to start if you are doing the whole thing. Since the hike is a loop, you can start anyplace. We have done shorter weekend loops starting on 144 by the Gas Line Trail.

I like starting at 44. I am thinking at starting either one of the 44 trailheads. Not sure which one yet.
