And damn! You're right! There was a lot of detail that couldn't be seen in the original. I LIKE!

Love the wolf howling hidden by the mountain peak. Your back is like a game! How many animals can you find? ;)

The top isn't so bad, but the lower, and further out from the spine, the more painful. Those cattails out there on my ahem... love handles just about brought me out of the chair. I was holding my breath everytime the needle came down. But you can't twitch! And I didn't. That is why the artist loved woking on me so much. I just sat still and kept my mouth shut. LOL!

You could try an "iron on" instead if you really want her name on you winky. It may be a little more temporary...

An 'iron on' would be nearly as painful. Could you imagine the blisters that would leave? :p

No one is getting near me with an iron.

I've had an epiphany!
For years now I've been trying to decide what I want to get in a tatoo. I've been going back and forth on the same old symbols that nearly everyone has...

Well, tonight I was flipping through a deck of my tarot cards (used for meditation) and it donned on me.

About 4 years ago, I had gone into a book store in German Village of Columbus and walked out with this really awesome book mark of the Goddess Ishtar.

About a year later I went into a store and walked out with the deck of afore mentioned tarot cards. When I first went through them, I discovered that something looked familiar and that one of the cards was the exact same artwork as my book mark.

I really think I want this tattooed on my shoulder blade....

Very cool! So much more interesting then allot of what I've seen. Maybe that's why I've never considered a tatoo (besides the pain), I've never seen any that are interesting like that one, or meangreens'. Too many Harleys and eagles & and women's names in hearts. Oh, and tigers and dolphins that look like crap because the parts on which they were placed have all drooped. That one would be spectacular MsDoolittle.

Thanks Graska. :)

This is the description of Ishtar on the back of the card:

"Ishtar is the multilayerd Babylonian creator goddess, the source of all life and embodiment of the power of nature. She is the giver of plenty, a lawgiver, a judge, the goddess of time as well as the goddess of both love and war. Her name means "giver of light" and derives from her rols as queen of heaven. She is the planet Venus as both morning and evening star, and her girdle is the zodiacal belt. Ishtar descends to the underworld and restores the vegetation god, Tammuz, to life and thus restores fertility to the earth. As she descends she removes a veil at each gate. While she is underground all life on earth is depressed and nothing comes to life. Ishtar is a multifaceted, powerful symbol of a forthright mode of being that is unafraid to venture into the depths of the underworld. She represents the creative feminine, active and strong."

Ishtar = Flop
Oh Noooooooooooooooooooooo.........

Ishtar was nominated for Worst Picture in the 1987 Golden Raspberry Awards. The movie received overwhelmingly poor reviews, and holds a 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. For several years afterwards, "Ishtar" became synonymous with "box office flop.

LOL
Might rethink that selection, MsDoo. ;-)

Cool MsD. Go for it! If you ever get back Indy way I know of a local artist that would love to do this piece and he would do it very well too.

What size you thinking? About 8" x 5"?
My advice: Go bigger than you think it should be. It will pay off when the work is done.

5x7 or 5x8 seems like a good size. It would show off the detail more. May have to reconcider where to put it if I go that big. It would look a little awkward on my shoulder. Seems like it should be more center.

The card itself is about half that size.

I'll keep that intro in mind, meangreen. I need to work on the $$ for such an endeavor first.

Thanks for the suggestion!
MsDoolittle

Center it. For that size, definately.
Unless you have a plan for another piece on the other shoulder to balance it out.

Uh oh. I will have her with a full collage back piece before you know it! ;-) LOL!

A piece that size should be about 2 sessions. Three at the most. Figure $150/session plus $25 tip/session. So you are looking at $350 - $525 depending on the artist. They may give you a break if business is slow, or you can come in at off peak times of the day/week. Rock bottom you are looking at $250 for two sessions, including tip.
Don't worry about the size of the card. Any respectable shop will have a copy machine that can blow it up to what ever size you want.
Something else to look for is an artist that works freehand, instead of making stencils. It will look best that way. 95% of my back is freehand. He just laid a pic on the floor, and looked off it for reference. Then again mine was compiled from hundreds of different pics.

I could... There is another Goddess card that I really like as well. LOL! Actually, there are quite a few in this deck I wouldn't mind having on my body. Ishtar has the most meaning. Followed by the White Shell Woman.

Unfortunately, I can't find the picture I have on the internet, but it's just as beautiful as Ishtar.

Hey, lookie there! Doo hasn't deleted my fuzzy crack yet! LOL!

That is one sweet deal Birch!

Mine will be a color piece. It's a view of Courthouse Rock off of Auxier ridge, with a tree on the cliff, and my pack leaned against the tree. Simple, but there will be a lot of depth and detail like my back. I want it to blend and transition well from my back to my arm also. Should be interesting once I get started.
