I am thinking of putting together a serious fast and light 3 dayer on the Knobstone trail this spring sometime. I'm thinking 10 - 15 miles/day for 3 days. I have not hiked the KT, and would love to get it off my list of unhiked indiana trails. So how bout it? This will not be a trip for the newbie, or the faint of heart, or the casual sight seer. This will be long days on the toughest Indiana has to offer. (Which isn't saying much for you westerners, but it's as good as we got.) Crash, Jimmysan, Gforce, Olddog, and anyone else that thinks they can (almost)keep up with these guys, please give me some feed back. Also anyone who has done this, I would like to hear opinions, advice and ideas.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the KT is the most challenging in indiana. Maybe I'm wrong. I knew someone would ask WTH I was talking about.

45 miles in 3 days is a butt kicker? Maybe you guys need to explain a thing or two to ENS :-)

I know you are joking cb. but just to put your mind to rest.

I did not bail due to the size of last week's group. Need I paint you a picture?

In addition to my original reasons I think it was preordained. My son called from Kansas State on Saturday to tell me he was coming home for Christmas earlier than expected. I wouldn't have been home if I'd hiked. Sometimes when things don't feel right you just have to trust your gut. I'm glad I did.

I've decided that if I'm going to make a serious drive/flight to hike. I want to do some serious miles, serious terrain or see something spectacular. Ideally both.

Everybody hikes for different reasons.
And 45 miles in one day sounds like fun - "no sleep til trailhead"

Awesome! This would be cool, but I better do some serious conditioning, or your fearless trip planner may be the one to die. LOL! I'll get to work. Ya, about 45 miles in 3 days sounds cool. Thats 15 per day. This will be my biggest mileage yet.

I'm think'in March-ish. I can't do these kind of miles with a real winter pack and deal w. the serious cold etc. It would be great to get to actually hike with you WK. I heard about your bro, and hope everything is ok. That is too bad.

Cool. Crash is all over this one! Thanks dude. Anyone know anything about this section of the trail? Are we talking designated sites only, or do you just have to get off the trail? What about water? To keep this pace I ideally wouldn't carry more than one liter at any time.
