So who is having a White Christmas?
All we are getting is rain.

Rain is snow....with all the fun taken out.

Sloppy, wet muddy BROWN Christmas! And I'm feeling quite pouty about it. Mother Nature better kick it in gear for January.

I'm having a Monongahela Christmas and I expect some snow showers.

BOL Nimblefoot!

A white Christmas here would mean Hell froze over again, and I don't see that happening. This town would shut down completely because of all the bridges being closed. I still wouldn't mind, as long as I could get to the grocery store first. ;)

I'll be in VA on Saturday, and it's supposed to be 65 degrees! I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that means no snow.

No snow for me. :-(
Rain is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. And it doesn't look like it will get below freezing Sunday or Monday.

We (my daughter, granddaughter and me) will see white stuff, if we go to the beach. It's the white foam from the warm, ocean waves running across the Florida sand beach's shoreline.

Ha, ha, ho, ho and Merry Christmas.

Awww and here I thought the colors might involve blue and red after OAM's other post.

;-P

It's rainy here. Temps were dropping last night and the kid at the grocery store was hoping there'd be no school on this, the last day before they get out anyway.

Here is my world, or at least an hour east in La Crosse, WI, which has our weather station. It sits on a hill looking west to the valley the town sits in and the Mississippi River. Not seeing much today, lol.

While I can happily live with a non-white Christmas (and it makes winter that much shorter, as opposed to the olden days with snow from early November into March and maybe April!), Christmas is what you make of it. Get your "right attitude" on and enjoy what ya gots! :-)

We got an inch of fresh snow overnight. Storms coming every other day through Christmas.

Bing grew up in Spokane and got his start here. The old theater where he started was just renamed for him.

And.... (I am perusing the NWS site)... here's the interesting poop on Rochester, MN having a white Christmas.

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/arx/climo/xmas.rst.php --- which says what's below:

Christmas Climate for Rochester

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few weather facts about Christmas day in Rochester. Precipitation is recorded in inches. Snow on the ground is at 6 am.

Temperature
Normal High: 22
Normal Low: 7
Record High: 50 (1936)
Record Low: -25 (2000)

Highest Low: 31 (1973)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Precipitation
Record: 0.75 (1948, 1893)
Record Snowfall 10.3 (1955)
Record Snow on the Ground 15 (1969)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Number of times with a trace or more of snowfall: 44
Number of times with measurable (over a trace) of snowfall: 23
Number of times with an inch or more of snowfall: 12
Climatological chance for a trace or more of snowfall: 64%

Climatological chance of a trace or more on the ground: 97%
Climatological chance of an inch or more on the ground: 80%

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a "white" Christmas generally considered an inch of snow on the ground or an inch falling that day, Rochester has had "white" Christmases 55 times (out of 69) since 1933, or 80% of the time. The last non-white Christmas was in 2002. There was no snowfall that day, and only a trace on the ground that morning. The years of 1936, 1941, 1942, and 1943 were excluded from the statistics due to missing data.
Non-"white" Christmases: 1944, 1949, 1953, 1958, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1986, 1988, 1997, 2002.

That second link you posted makes me even more depressed lizs. I live right on the boarder of 76%-90% and 90%< for a white Christmas. Looks like this year will definitely be one of those 10% years. :(

Odds are 57%, but from the forecast and the snow we just got, should be better odds than that.

Bing
From Wikipedia, matches what I heard on TV for the dedication.

The six-year-old Harry Lillis discovered a full page feature in the Sunday edition of Spokesman-Review, "The Bingville Bugle." The "Bugle," written by humorist Newton Newkirk, was a parody of a hillbilly newsletter complete with gossipy tidbits, minstrel quips, creative spelling and mock ads. A neighbor, 15-year-old Valentine Hobart, shared Crosby's enthusiasm for "The Bugle," and noting Crosby's laugh, took a liking to him and called him Bingo from Bingville. The last vowel was dropped and the name shortened to Bing, which stuck.

#@$##($%* &(*@ % that dirty....Dang...just got a call from a friend in ..BEAVER CREEK COLORADO.

The jerk went up there planning on coming back this weekend....he is "snowbound" and wants me to cover his cases....Boo Hoo....it seems he walked to the "bus terminal" for the Condo, to get a ride to Denver Yesterday....they were not even making the run.
So he goes back to the condo, finds he can hold it for another couple of days (some sort of special $$$ deal)...and his friends are going to stay with him....LOL Lucky @##$#%#% his friends are a Fireman from a Major city in the South...and the Fireman's Wife and her sister and her sister';s friend.

So while I am here pounding the pavement working fires...he is relaxing in a hot tub in the snow..with a nice drink and some rather cute ladies.....

Could be a muddy Christmas...
...on the East Coast...

With absolutely no snow or even freezing temps in sight here in the Mid-Atlantic and a major rainstorm fixing to make its way up the coast this weekend, it's gonna get wet around here.

Hope y'all got good ground-fault protection on them Christmas lights outside...

After I go out and snowblow the 4 inches of heavy wet snow we got last night I will enjoy a White Christmas. I think we're lucky we didn't get as much as they predicted, I heard of some power outages just down the road from trees snapping under the weight of the snow.

From the local rag...
With snow predicted throughout the weekend and an updated forecast showing cooler temperatures than originally projected, National Weather Service meteorologist Rocco Pelatti now believes Christmas Day across the region will be a "picture-perfect, snow-globe type of deal."

Rain all day here in NH. There's still a very small pile of snow from where I shoveled a couple of weeks ago, but it's melting fast. My fifth Christmas in NH and my first brown one. I hope this isn't a trend.
