Bass Pro it is, I get a lot of my stuff from the Bass Pro store up here! You outta be able to see it from the road. I also called the local True Value hardware store (Yep, Hardware Store!!) in Lone Pine and was told that they sell all kinds of Trout fishing stuff there and know what type of baits work best, lol, of course they do!! Anyway I am planning on stopping there on my way just to see.
On another note entirely, I have changed my flight plans and am flying into Vegas on 8/01/2007. I want to get to Onion Valley as soon as I can so I can start acclimating. I can do all the other prep stuff here, weights, hiking, jogging, etc. but I can’t get the low O2 levels I need with out paying out the nose for Altitude Training Time at one of the high dollar health centers here in Chicago. I am guessing I will show up in Onion Valley sometime on 8/1/2007 in the PM. I live at 800‘ and have never been higher than Clinghams Dome, GSMNP. I got some Diamox to use for the big climb just in case:

Diamox is used to help acclimate. The minimal dose is 125mg in the morning and evening of the ascent and for two further days is usually enough. Larger doses of 250mg twice per day may be used if AMS symptoms occur. At larger doses adverse symptoms like numbness of fingers, toes and mouth, as well as increased urination may occur.

I will only take it if I need it, and I got my "Tent Bottle" ready to go. So far, this trip is going to have me packing close to 33 LBS, plus whatever I have to carry extra the first day to resupply Jack and Gem. Hmmm, wonder how them two are doing?? They been out there for a few days now!!

“how far off the trail was the muir summit? how difficult?”

“about a 10th of a mile down the trail from the trailcrest intersection towards whitney. A cairn a herd path and about 400 foot climb with about a 100 fooot of class 3 climb at the top. it was awesome the summit was no bigger than a dining room table with a 2000 foot drop off one side.”

“Watch out for the guys at VVR the tab runs up fast. Bugs really not a problem. It took about an hour to go up Muir. Alot of focus not to look over the side though and not get freaked out. Also if going to vvr the lake is dry requiring an extra mile walk to where the ferry picks you up. walk across the lake bed to thee american flag.”
