Left Paris mid April and have been cycling, as well hopping a few planes/trains and hitching a bit in Tibet since then. Only have about 8000Km cycled so far this trip.

I'll have to work at some point, but I'm not sure when or where... :)

Sorry to hear about your knee injury. Several of us here on TT have bad knees. Cyndeee has had several interesting treatments. She might be able to steer you onto some of the strings, where she discussed the treatments. Look for her name and click on it to get her e-mail address. You can find her on the string, cyndeee and nowslimmer take on cumberland island. (We are planning to rent bicycles for touring the Island.) Or just post another string with any questions that you might have. Numerous people here will be happy to try and answer any questions you submit.

You mentioned California. Long ago, for a while, I lived in LA. I was located near the intersection of Balboa and Devonshire in the Granada Hills area. I, also, spent some time in the Oxnard area.

“for your kind welcome! My knee is getting better thank the Good Lord! And at least I had a good time getting the injury; (PCT, Warner Springs to Scissors Crossing). I threw off the crutches three days ago and today I was in such a rush to get to work I actually forgot to put on my brace. So I went without it! I'm only a little bit sore; I call that progress. I take "Spring Valley" Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM - triple strength; I buy it at Wal-Mart. A little research on the web gave me the information that this brand at this store actually contained exactly the milligrams that is stated on the package. I also do the excercises that the doctor gave me to do. I will backpack by Spring, and my troop is doing the JMT in summer, I will be there too!

Thank you for saying I am beautiful, somedays I do feel so. Which picture are you speaking of? My myspace default pic is when I was 19, so take a good look at all the other pics on my myspace, I'm 46 now. I still look the same, only older! =)

Yes, I do live in So Cal. It has it's pro/cons. In any case I'll be here at least until my youngest graduates high school.

Your mentioned being married. But at times your words sound as if you are separated or divorced. I was just curious. You don't have to say anything.

I used to love going down to Baja. I went to Tecate, so that I could say, "I drank Tacate in Tacate." A few years later I could say, "I drank Panama in Panama." Also, I can say that I got married in Panama. It did not last forever, but I gained two beautiful, talented daughters from the experience. I just had dinner with one of them, a 2000 graduate of Johns Hopkins Univ. The youngest graduated from Grinnell College in 2005. Ensenada and further south were frequent trips for many of my experiences.

BTW, I have not had a drink of alcohol for 14-years as of tomorrow. After I got rid of my last wife, I have not had a good excuse for drinking.

Currently I take MSM for my knees. I tried the same capsules that you are taking, but they gave me aches in the back of my head. The same thing happened when I took Potassium pills, so I quit such pills.

I wish our paths could cross. You seem to have a number of the same outdoor interests as me. (What's the chance of that on a backpacking forum?) I do a few other things, too, like bicycling, billiards, swimming up to 2¼ miles, workouts and martial arts. Aikijutsu, which is my main class, is defensive combat.

It's nice to know that we are about the same age, more or less. However, I have so many memories at my age, that I sometimes get confused about my number of years.

Another California thought: Until they cut back on men's athletic activities a few years ago, my oldest son was the Head Men's Track and Field Coach at San Francisco State College. It was a good position, as the school had over 27,000 students.

“Habla Esponol muey, muey pocito! Most of us here in So Cal speak a peculiar mix we call Spanglish. I have been known to converse with people who speak as little English as I speak Spanish and somehow we still can get some kind of understanding going. But I would never presume to say that I actually speak Spanish. I could probably learn if I wanted to. I took Korean in the Air Force for 13 weeks, but that was 27 years ago; use it or loose it.

I am married, we have been together almost 24 years and married for 20 of them. We Have 4 kids, our pic is on our myspace. I have a lot of pics on my myspace of me, my family, and my backpacks/campouts/hikes. I have 14 1/2 years clean of drugs, but I still drink occasionally. Being 46 is cool, I like it. Wrinkles scare me a little, but all I have so far is a few lines; I'm fine with that. Age is really an attitude and nothing more.

Except for my youngest son's constant drumming, (yeah, we bought him drums for Christmas), it's been a very mellow Christmas here. I DID get the Jetboil I wanted from my kids! YEAH! =) My oldest son made us a wonderful breakfast. And my husband and daughter cooked dinner, which was a nice change. I got to take a nice nap in the middle of the day, (the drumming did stop for a few hours). I am still exhausted from the 6 days of work and overtime previously, but I have tommorow off too so that I may recover.
