Trail Days 2007

“Trail Days 2007 is closing in , and with new camping area much more like backpacking and no dang swamp no more. All those who have gear needing repairs, ie,...stoves, tents, walking sticks, etc.......they do this free. I had some gear repaired and it's free........., Lots of Free Gear giveaway, lots of vendors, outfitters, Free Food and a few Backpackers.

“NEW camping area this year/ The Trail Days contact I have talked to is telling me they do not want any camping in the Field we were in in the past years. The new area will be directed into the woods dispursed throughout. Our new area will be in the same direction just continue past right into the wood line to the River, I will be making a TT sign in the area.

As you enter the Campground to the LEFT is where, the quieter folks will be, thus that's why I thought we had better stay in the area where all the Party will be at.

LOCAL has given us first pick and given me the go ahead to set up early and claim what I think is the best spot. So bring your chairs, Tents, Hammocks, and COOLERS.

“There are 2 foot bridges that leads into the woods, if you go to the 2nd bridge and follow path into the woods, there is a larger campsite, lots of poision oak! and right next to the river. We even had to remove a copper head about a 1 1/2 feet long. It was trying to get into Princess-2- beers tent and mine was just accross from hers. I have pictures! That's where I always camp and it's away from the campers who stay up all night. That's my suggestion.”

If I recall right, we were hanging out by the bridge over the Laurel Creek. If we could somehow quickly draw ridiculous amounts of water out of the creek...

However, I like the fire truck idea; talk about bringing out the tank...”

“Mapleleaf make it down to Roanoke VA and I can take you to Damascus...its only a 9 hour drive from NY (around Harriman) to Roanoke vs about a 12 hour drive if you drive yourself all the way to Damascus. lol...u could always fly. There is an airport in Bristol, TN, and that'll put you about an hour or so away from Damascus by car (depending on how fast you drive).
