Trail Days 2007

“I'm out! I just made the decision. There are many of you that I would like to see again and many of you that I wanted to meet. So I regret that it won't happen this weekend.

I had planned to be in GSMNP by this time, but I never made it. From there I could have zipped right up to Damascus. So, instead I'm going to save the gasoline money for part of a trip out west with some of my family. A second reason is that I have not been feeling too well lately. I will have a medical checkup before leaving with my daughter and granddaughter.

Have a wonderful time all you great people. I'll see you on another trip.”

“Me and Roller are planning to be there early Friday afternoon and man are the workdays long this week for some reason!”

“I'll be there on friday and will be camping in the Quiet side of things. i think there will be around 8 of us..”

Whats the deal and where do I find where to camp? I know Damascus rather well from biking and walking around town when I was board but I do not know the layout.

Is there a thread on first timers for traildays? What is the beer situation like? I need important facts like that.”

hyway, turns out that area was a waste dump for some sort of dye. That was announced earlier this yr and that is why they moved the sites. Now you know what is wrong with you ;)”

“Hyway , When i was doing some Volunteer work for Local ie,.. Trail days work last fall, He was telling me thay wanted to close off the field , it was a swamp.......and move into the woods, up river there will be a designated quiet area and we are to be is considered the roudy area.............”

“ewker, I've known from the first that the area used to be a hazard waste site. I just didn't care :). But if the field is closed the field is closed. They are going to have a tough time keeping people out of it. maybe they will make it a parking area.

Fridge, the rowdy area is a must lol. Not that we are really all that rowdy, but if we want to give a holler I don't want the man coming down on me.”

“Going to head out of here in a few minutes to pick up Wildbill the fairy from the dock, errr, I mean from the ferry dock. Then we'll pick up the seafood, beer, more seafood, more beer, some snacks, more seafood and beer, some mountain dews. I'll suppose we'll swing by his house and pick up his camping gear and his wife. Then head out whenever she's ready.

We'll probably arrive around midnight, but it could be dawn.

BTW, will anyone be bringing a sturdy table to eat the oysters and such on? I have this crappy folding thing I bought from walmart two traildays ago, but the table part fell apart. The frame still works so if anyone has a piece of plywood to put over it we could be like the Beverly Hillbillies of traildays.

“I'm leaving now, gonna try to fit a table or two inside the car before we leave. See you guys early tomorrow morning or late tonight.”

“Okay I just have gotten back from Trail Days camp ground,, when you enter the main gate you will see the as usual police shelter on the left as you enter and a couple of white nylon Cabin tents on the right. Continue around the Big White cabin Tent you will see a yellow to parking tape , just cross it and continue down the ole road passing the Big Bon Fire area on the left. Continue down all the way until come to the open field. Head straight into the wood line, you will see an ole diving board and right beside of it a new wood small bridge taking you to our spot. We have a yellow ribbon tape and a white TT sign in the middle.
They will allow you to camp in the field but are encourging us not too. It is a waste dump many years ago in this field, I can explain later the details.”

“Thanks for the info, fridge. Glad to know they they built a new bridge. That diving board was tricky to navigate when under the influence.

I think we will be arriving around 1 am. keep the fire going if anyone is there tonight.”
